Turret versions of scanners.
so that tridents (and other ships with turrets) can have more scanner options, have turret versions of the various scanners. Mineral, port, storm, cargo scanners, and scanner blockers.
+1
This would be a fair trade-off for the loss of a turret weapon, and would increase the roles of tridents.

Any turret version should have longer range capacity than the standard.
@Fluffy: Are you saying you will only give a +1, if the turret version is better than the non turret version?
That is correct. Existing scanners are mostly small so far as I know. I never bother with them so there may be large port for some functions or they are embedded in the ship. If there is going to be a turret version then that should be reflected as an enhancement in some way, whether by range ability or group sharing. Or if the scanner is multi-purpose.
When tridents are concerned I find it ridiculous that you are limited to 4 turrets, 1 front weapon slot and 1 cell slot.
it's a freaking frigate, you should be able to equip an array off scanners, torpedoes, guns and have armory where you can keep interchangeable weapons/equipment and ammo.
Btw, tridents have a reactor, wtf do we need a power cell?

I'd actually be happy if they fixed the npc trident staying in the group so the built in group radar worked for more than a minute in a storm hive or conq station battle...
but sure +1 to the other stuff too

-1 for scanners and radar.
+1 for defensive countermeasures. (Blockers, spoofers, etc.)
Turret ports are largely unused on 'moths and Atlases. Allowing scanners and radar to be used on them is basically a free ride without the usual sacrifice of a valuable weapon port.

+1 Arf.
I think the idea of using a trident as an AWACS would be a good addition to its somewhat limited functionality. It would be cool if you could fit an "improved missile scanner" that improves accuracy of missile weapons for everyone in the group. That would be a reason to have the dent in the heat of battle as a support ship rather than as an R&R base (unless things changed in that respect in the past year or so, I have to admit I didn't resub)

Tridents should have every damn scanner, extender and add-on in the game. Hell the UDV already does. There is no way these should be turret ports.

I agree with Ore
Turret versions of scanners could have much longer ranges, but to offset this they should probably be targeted with a narrow cone of effect. This would be markedly different than current scanners which are omnidirectional so long as the computer is able to get a target lock. The turret user would need to get a target and then have the turret directed at the target until the scan is complete.
