Sub-Guilds
Read the title
Sub-Guilds will be part of an existing guild, like a branch of it.
They will only have 1 Commander and 1-2 Lts.
Their tag will be something like this:
[BUM 2] bumcheese 10
Or
[SKV 75th] Elder (sorry guys)
If a number has a "nd" or "st" or "th" on it's end, It'll symbolize that the player is part of a Sub-Guild, it'll also be like a branch tag (liek, 64th stands for "64th Wing" or some shit)
The Officers need to be premium/full subbed to run the Sub-Guild.
And a member who's willing to join the Sub-Guild must enter the main guild first and must be approved by the commander/lt. of the Sub-Guild to join it

Why?
Yeah, what's the point, exactly?
/group invite "Guild Member"
I think what he wants is the ability to have branch within the guild be publicly recognized as slightly separate from the guild proper, for instance, a defense/escort squad in a trading guild or fighter/bomber divisions in a nationalist guild. I find the idea appealing, but I see limited application at current population numbers, perhaps when the player count gets really high and there are guilds with a hundred active players this will have more use.
+1 anyways

We tried that in the early days of [FAMY]. Didn't exactly work, but that may have been due to implementation. FBP was CO then and idea that we had was that it would differentiate between functions within the guild (support vs. operations but, more specifically, non-combat vs. combat).
This would be handy with a guild like TGFT, if they still existed, where they have a small pirate branch within a larger trader organization.
A nationalist guild would get the most benefit, allowing some to be designated as privateers, scouts, logistics, soldiers, leadership...
The implementation is the hard part I suppose, but such a scheme might encourage more use of alternate slots.

Roles change quickly, why get stuck with one.

You know that may be useful if they add that function.
