Trident Commands
I like the Trident commands and I have several suggestions.
Go To <sector>/<system, sector>: to get your Trident to go somewhere (also good for taxiing)
Deliver <station sector>/<system, station sector> (ex. /msg "Path of Eo" Deliver Dau L-10) (sorry for using someone else's Trident name, I don't have a dent): good use if you're carrying too much stuff.
Escort <player name/Trident name>: for Escort.
Attack <player name>/<conquerable station sector>: more use for dents
Explode
Dock <station sector>/<system, station sector> (ex. /msg "Skygge Fusion" Dock Latos M-7) (again sorry, I don't have a dent)
Tell me what you think! B)

I'd honestly do away with the "deliver" command.
"goto" sounds cool.
"escort" probably should be called "defend" and should be a follow and defend across all sectors. A potential problem I see with this is tracking over multiple sectors.
This command would need to be verified with the "defendee", like (from the Trident) "I have been tasked with defending you, do you accept? (yes/no)"
"explode" yeah that'd be funny, and might be useful for tridents that are under attack, or way too far out.
"attack" sounds cool, only works on players in range.
"dock" would be tricky since it would need a custom flightpath to get to the Latos M-7 docks. Same with the other Trident docks, because as far as I'm aware, no NPC currently uses them to dock. But other than that, I'm totally for this.

What I want are pickup and drop commands
"pickup" Carbonic
"drop" Carbonic 200
"pickup" all
"drop" all
"drop" ishik all

Lol fluffy that's just lazy now :P
let's add these commands for other ships as well -or- maybe we should consider allowing trident owners to key others to assist in controlling their dent and have more multiplayer experiences. Commands like follow and park are fine as long the person is nearby, but some player should be flying with or in the dent.
Defend or attack? lol... you want your guns to fire, have someone dock with it and shoot. Unless that command will work with my turrets on my moth/atlas

command options should reflect the diverse ways players use tridents.
I see including other ship types as a can of worms at the moment. Yes, it would be nice to have a train of XC's following me around as I mine, but do we really want a player to be able to launch an attack on a station or Deneb mission with multiple swarm rags? How do we justify one and not the other?

There wouldn't be a train of xc's since I can only launch one at a time. I'm just saying, I'm ok with a trident following their captain in another ship in sector and even following his jumps.
But, if a trident captain can say goto bractus d9, and he sits in his trident and it flies him to bractus d9, why can't I do that in my ships? If a trident captain can tell his ships turrets to defend/attack, why can't I tell my ships turrets to defend/attack?
Sounds like Kierky is ready for Eve.

I wouldn't mind being able to park my dent somewhere and setting it to defend itself while I actually go play vo.
I kind of see your point and have always thought that turrets should be automated because I pretty much hate playing with other people as gunners or being a gunner. But I'm a minority with that view.

Telling you're Trident to Defend itself will automatically make the turrets AI
Actually, I think the turrets should be automated as well, on all turreted ships even if you had to hire an npc gunner at the station (like per hour).
But, I also don't want to see a bunch of automated tridents at the wormholes. Even though you can blow it up, it's not hard to write a script to buy trident, then use goto command to send it to wh. Then when it gets there, the script would give it a defend command or an attack command.
Players would be able to wage war while afk.

The best we are likely to see are to have a trident follow through jumps, go dock or come to the owner from a remote sector. More than that is most likely wishful thinking.
We've been using these commands for years, for events and missions and so on. We already have more commands than what we released; but because they were designed for purely-NPC Tridents, and not the combo PC/NPC tridents that players own, some additional changes have to be made.
So, it is still useful for us to hear what you guys think would be the most valuable to the player base. We'd rather continue to hear things, as opposed to it getting damped down under "wishful thinking".

Not sure how would 'defend' function actually work since standard IFF used with NPCs does not apply in most cases when players are in question.
Having the option for trident owner to define AI 'defend' parameters sounds complicated.

I'm glad to hear that incarnate. Pretty much the pickup, drop, go dock and come here are the biggest wants for me. I have no real objection to any of the rest that have been listed and think they could be useful.
I'd probably encourage 'deliver to station' if I knew what your plans were for expanding station docking for tridents. Right now the 3 capital docks are a nice novelty, but not useful to me.
Other than that, I'm not sure if this is outside the scope of the OP, but I'd like to be able to lend tridents.

A 'rotate' command so it gently turns, good for loading at a station, and the dent has to be able to pick up cargo while the owner is not in the pilot's seat. I'll bring out cargo and drop it by the wings. Things like 'pickup carbonic' are good too but I'm thinking about loading at a station when three other tridents are loading too. I might not want to pick up their stuff accidentally. Some trident owners are cranky.
A thought about fluffy's 'pickup <item>' command, it should keep picking up any of the same item in range (closest first) until full or given another command. Or at least accept parameters to specify that behavior.

I'd assume "defend" would behave the way other NPCs handle being told to defend a target, like how the LAR Project mission's Stygian Furies work, or the Queen's escort bots. (Not all that useful...)
I think the game needs some work in how it handles things like the NFZ or standing before adding features that allow the capships weapons to work autonomously. Right now, NPCs just outright ignore the NFZ and whether the sector is monitored space or not.
My wish list:
"goto <sector>"
"follow <target>" <-- accept "Player names" as well as {nodeid, objectid} so the ship can be instructed to go to a specific asteroid or other object.
"bear <target>" Like follow, except only turn to face the object, do not move.
"explode" With a countdown on ship chat for docked gunners.
A remote control for the /gunner commands would be nice, so you can remotely kick someone out of your ship or dismiss them from the turrets if they cause trouble.
Also this...

+1 to everything ARF just said. Sounds amazing!
