I think you should be able to buy a trident without having a sub or buy a smaller trident or capship
I think you should pay money for the game and not have a free ride
The point of having things to do in the game is to have something 'meaningful' to do while you are playing the game instead of having a short cut to win. Being able to buy end game items takes away from actually playing the game. It also steals content from other players because you would be getting a finished product without participating in the in game work required.

He's got a point
I'd prefer not having a Trident

-1. Stop being a cheap ass and subscribe to the game.
Uninsured tridents as $19.99 IAP? Sure, I bet a lot of people would enjoy taking others' $20 away from them via positron fire. Oh, the noob rage would be glorious.
I love this game, but it is lacking in a few departments such as the art work, the ships look like they were designed in a rush. I would love for the ships to get new hi-def skins with tedious respect to detail. As well as a secondary color system. I like the general idea of the ships but the old 90s tron skins of present are just such a downer. It couldn't be too hard to do I nice touch up to improve detail. I have talked about this with other people in game chat and I have yet to find someone to disagree. It also wouldn't hurt to add a few more styles of ship, for example make a ship with a tie fighter look or a pelican look from halo. Another idea would be to remove license on ships or even medel req, and raise the cost of coin on them. I literally cannot find a use for all my excess coin, as there is no real point. I have enough money to buy 6-7 heavy miner behemoths and I have license to buy but I need a whopping 15000 cu of ore that I mine and sell. Its rediculus, just remove the sell in station requirement and it will be fair in my opinion.
No complaints here, its not worth paying for an uninsured trident but if that's what you want to go go for it!
I can hear the parents complaining already about all the mysterious $19.99 charges :)
Do it.
Do it.
The problem with that is they dispute the charges, and Visa/MC leaves Guild Software holding the bag.
The big question I've got for the OP is: If you can't be bothered to build a Trident, what do you plan on doing with one in the first place?

make the building requirements realistic and get rid of the insurance and everyone would have something to do. And, it's more fun blowing something up that they have to rebuild or have prebuilt backups.
