Tone down border turret missiles - or remove them.
Ray told me I should dodge them, but they are the suck.
Remove them or tone down the damage they do, so I can grief all these new players more easily.

+1 the damage these things do is excessive for their speed and maneuverability.

+1 to killing noobs. There is only enough space for 20 disgruntled vets who pretend they are 60 other vets.
:/
Does anyone want this fucking game to thrive or are you all hellbent on running it into the dirt?

They are hellbent on running it into the dirt.
Ore, while we do want the game to be popular, we also want it to be fun. We consider enjoyability to be more important than popularity; it is better for the game to be fun but unpopular than popular but unfun. You can try to argue that not being popular will kill the game and then we won't have any Vendetta at all, but that misses the point -- if the game has to compromise on the things we actually like in order to survive, becoming in the process something that we don't like, then the game is just as dead to us as if Guild had gone out of business.
This is why we consistently reject suggestions that would supposedly bring in far more players but at the cost of dumbing the game down or adopting shitty hostile practices like pay-to-win models.
Note that the problem with border turrets isn't the difficulty of crossing a border, but rather the primarily luck-based nature of the current process. This is a game of skill, not luck, so that is inappropriate.

Rin, if we tone down the training sector turrets, we can get the new players before they learn how to dock!

Did something change with the border turrets? I never had much trouble getting past them flying the right ship. Hog 2, immediately check radar for the position of the missiles, plot a course in the opposite direction and haul ass with a bit of changing course to throw off the turrets.

It could be my imagination but it seems that warping into a turreted hostile sector at a wh is easier if the sector is not active at the time. Otherwise I seem to get pummelled even before I have ship control. If this is true then maybe a slight firing delay for an active sector would make the experience the same whether the sector is active or not.
+1 to csgno1. It takes almost four seconds after gaining control of your ship for a sleeping sector to wake up and start shooting its turrets at you. Otherwise the turrets start shooting your ship BEFORE you gain control.
As with all things, such a fix is likely not trivial.

Actually, the way it starts shooting immediately when awake is a known bug.
+1 they're stupid
Missiles are fucking dumb in general.
