it would be cool to be able to choose to sell the ship as a "scrap" ship, or pay some money to repair and crack the "ignition codes". Then the ship would be usable by you. This way you could get yourself one of the bot ships.
If you allowed the towed player to live and towed them to the station, you'd have to disable the /explode command. That's the first thing I'd do to a salvager trying to steal my ship.

I think the ion cannon shouldnt kill the player that owns the ship, but rather knock out all the electronics in it. The player would still be alive and he would have to watch in horror as his ship is towed to the nearest station for salvage:)
But I think that radar should not be lost, you should only lose boosting capabilities. That alone makes you practically a sitting duck. Also the fact that the tractor beam would drain all your battery energy would make defending youself a lot harder and you would have to press on and pray to the maker that you dont die or disengage tractor(s) and defend yourself, but lose your captured ship(the ship would disintegrate or something due to the critical strucutral integrity or something)

What if the EMP/Ion ship was a large hulled spider type thing, when it disable a ship, it grabs hold with its legs and drags it back to a station, of course then docks would have to be twice as big...
Radix, I have to strongly disagree with you. That would leave people sitting in ships, unable to do anything until they logged out, which would be REALLY BORING
I have to strongly agree with roguelazer on this one :)
If you do /explode while beiing in the ship you'd just warp back to your station. If you have a special self-destruct goodie inside, you can blow that one up. Or use an escape pod... or both ;)
