Light and Heavy AWAC Multi Sector Radar Exenders (sm and lg port)
This addon works off of the idea I had in the post linked to below, but you have to trade a small or large port for for the features listed below. This addon would increase player interaction and make teamwork more desirable and rewarding.

1) Extend the range you can detect which sector a fleeing ship jumped to from 1000m to 1500m for the small port version and 2000m large port version. This allows pursuers to continue chasing targets who get lucky jumps over 1000m away in the next empty sector to detect where their target jumped and continue their pursuit.
2) In the Nearby Ships List under tactical, the small port version will list the ship types of player ships including empty trident type Ms up to 1 sector away (all adjacent sectors, a 3x3 square) and 2 sectors away in all directions for the large port version (Including the sector you are in, it would be a 5x5 square). Even with the large port version, it would still take 16 jumps to cover every sector in the system (12 jumps to cover all but the outer rows). In the nearby ships list, all you would see would be something like trident type M @ A1 or Centaur Mk II @ E5.

I'd like to see this functionality added to the existing Shared Group Radar Extender that sees very little use currently.

+1. Also implement this automatically into TPG Raptor UDVs and it will finally have a good purpose.
+1 OP
+1 to Sieger's idea
Small changes to preexisting items can make for great improvements!

@abortretryfail why would an existing Shared Group Radar Extender do anything for long range radar detection? it only extends your current radar to the group. Now, if you had both attached, then extend it to all. btw, I should have called this Light and Heavy AWAC Multi Sector Radar Add on... not extender.
I'm aware of what little it does currently. There's a good reason they're not worth using in most cases.

If you want to see what's on the other side of the wh or the next sector, jump to it and see. Or, better yet, work together in groups. Scout ahead.
Not implementing this encourages people to work cooperatively. This is a social game.

have you counted how many sectors are in a system SkinWalker??? space is to big, let's make it a bit more manageable.

bumping for more +1's to increase player interaction and activity...

I'm with YT. This idea seems good on the surface, but in reality it would encourage people to become lazy lone wolves. Having to scout ahead is what forces people to work together, not the other way around.

I don't buy the scouting argument. This wouldn't work across wormholes so those would still need to be scouted, and it could have interesting implications for player battles. Even if it makes pirate ambushes slightly less effective, I think it opens up more opportunities than it takes away.

-1 or only works in nation space.
(Btw You already have tgft_utilities for that purpose. :p )
If this is added i will ask fer "pirate only" ships with built-in radar jammer or that all grey sectors become radioactive in order to limit the range to 4000m.

With this added, it will become far too easy to avoid pirates. If you can warp to a sector next to a wormhole sector you'd be able to see if any hostilities are there, without sending someone to actually scout the wormhole sector. This would be a dream toy for lone traders riding moths, those who don't like having a partner to fly ahead of them.
Can you elaborate more about how it would promote interaction between players and increase a desire for playing within a team? I don't see any real argument being presented here.
I think it opens up more opportunities than it takes away.
What opportunities? Give a few tangible examples.

-1 to #1 It's already enough of a challenge for standard ships to escape a determined pursuer when in a loaded trade ship- particularly a behemoth class ship.
For #2 though...
This should only work for ships the size of a trident and hopefully in the future, larger if added.
I'm going to +1 because of how easy it is to jump endlessly between empty sectors if my caveat is part of the limitations given the device.
Keep in mind that the same tool otherwise could be used to the pirates advantage in finding easy prey that might be mining or botting. Oh, and griefing. I can imagine tons of griefing this would allow if all ships are shown.
I'd start with only the adjacent sector option first.
Edit: I would also add a limitation that this device only work on empty sectors due to occlusion and other interference from station or asteroid sectors.

Fluffy & Joylessjoker, this was designed to be a team thing to bring players together, whether pirate, traders, or nationalists, with some giving up sm and lg ports. I think hunting a target for all groups would be fun and something not really achievable now. With the proposed range (only a few sectors on either side) even with the large port version it would take four guys four jumps to scan all sectors WHILE the trident or other ship can still jump away to other sectors while he/she calls his/her friends.
Pirates could use the addon to see if people jump to a sector adjacent to a wh... fair tradeoff. Pirate as a team! I'd like to see more strategy. Let's turn VO into the space version of counterstrike!
Edited to add, I'm not apposed to a sm port awacs jammer.
