Trident large port needs a real gun
I don't care what it is, but it needs to be awesome. Charged cannon, gattling turret, teradon guass. Whatever.
+1000
Anything that resembles a real capship weapon is better then the current solution.

Queen gats are pretty well suited for this, but they' close-range only and there aren't really any other good options for offensive weapons on the Trident's L-port.
+1 for more options.
Capital Cannon Highpower (Teradon's main guns) wouldn't be overpowered. They have the same effective DPS as the NPC capital cannons do (that's lower than the queen gat), and the projectile moves so slow that fighters can dodge it with ease. It'd have to actually use energy though.

You vet players are astoundingly selfish. You only think about yourselves and your tridents.
If you truly love VO, you would be making suggestions that improve the start-game and mid-game content for better player retention. Apparently you bunch do not give a hoot about retention. You are content to sail through empty sectors in your shining trident, feeling like an awesome captain. Delusions much.

+1 to the Capital Cannon Highpower. Make it a Teradon drop, if nothing else.

Not really. At the moment Tridents are just glorified transport ships with shields.
Replacing the front L port with some capital ship class weapon is easy for devs to do and they already have several solutions at their disposal (weapons that have already been used in VO before).
I am not much of a Trident owner, I sped like 10% of my online time driving a dent, the rest of the time I am in a fighter ship.
'Giving a hoot' about better player retention.... new suggestions and ideas are posted every day and I even dug up some very old ones that are aimed in that direction.
Sadly, wishful thinking is not enough and devs can do only so much with the resources they have. Some suggestions that were even partially approved 8-9 years ago only got to 10% implementation and are nowhere close to finishing. Low hanging fruit is all we can hope for so if there is some stuff that can be easily added to VO without too much effort from the devs, we have a chance of getting that update 'soon' (TM).

For once, I must agree with Fail. People just get a dent and kinda parade around with it.
As for a main trident gun... torpedoes? Big, slow, kinda guided, require tons of energy, maybe even recoil? Call them the Yamato Gun and you are done.

More end game content = more and/or longer long term support.
+1. Capships need capship guns. Give NPC dents the same upgrade.

+1 OP
I suggested similar on day 1. Got called greedy.
If tridents can't be a danger to each other then they remain silly.

Back then they were more a danger to each other they are now with shields. I still think doing shields before proper weapons was putting the carriage before the horse...
