WE Should Be Able To Land On Planets And Have Earth Wars Like WW2! :}

I do enjoy the idea of landing on planets, building cities and industry, etc., but that's well beyond the scope of this particular game. Shores of Hazeron recently came back from the dead, though. You might want to check that out. The graphics are terrible and it has plenty of flaws, but it's a pretty neat game nonetheless.

Ok :) thanks for the suggestion :P
WTF Incarnate.
Basically, this strip is showing what our popular movies about medieval times would look like to somebody actually from those times. We get many details wrong, and we also tend to collapse a wide range of dates into one anachronistic mish-mash of tech and fashion. And sometime in the future, people will do the same thing to us, and you'll get a film about WWII much like the above.
Granted, our record keeping is better now than it used to be and we have actual photos and video rather than embellished paintings. So hopefully future movie makers will find it easier to do their research. I doubt it will make much actual difference though. People are pretty lazy.

Zebra's with lance bearing brits in football helmets decapitating nazis and nuke firing wooden sailing frigates would probably make a good movie though
There's a quote from a British writer in the 18th Century which basically states that War makes for tearing good reading, and Peace is boring.
It's not whether future movie makers would be lazy or not. History (true history) without being condensed, isn't very exciting to the average person, since it can literally take years for an event to occur which a movie condenses into a 15 minute action scene. (I'm weird - I happen to think the world revolves around logistics)
Just look at what we do in the military history books about the American Civil War. We have dozens upon dozens of pages with detailed analysis almost minute by minute of what happened near the Devil's Den at Gettysburg, but less than a page of the endless hours (even days) of marching simply getting armies from place to place. It would appear we're not all that more advanced than the Romans, who enjoyed the pleasure of watching people ritualistically try to kill one another in an amphitheater.

Keller:
Not quite what I was getting at. I mean stuff like setting a story around the year 1000 but then giving the characters weapons from 1300 and fashions from 1500.

YES, Have A Future Game Where One Has The Ability To Land On Planets And Make, Conquer Civilizations
Alloh 2.0?
Incarnate Is A Developer!? Great :).
@Pizza. True. There has always been a degree of technical mixing in period piece movies. We still do it even when we know better because sometimes it's less "interesting" to be accurate. (heck, look at any John Wayne or Tom Cruise movie; just try to tell me THOSE are accurate) I'm just saying that even if a civilization had perfect knowledge about "our" period, if they sensationalized things as much as we do, they'd still be mixing technologies, cultural habits, even speech patterns. I'm sure (as you stated) some of it would be due to pure laziness, but the impetus to sensationalize would still result even if they weren't.
@Axiom. Inc isn't just A developer. He's THE developer. Regularly acting like a prat isn't likely to gain any favors from him.

O.o That's a lot to handle.
So wait... is this whole thread a teaser for a new ship called the Zebra coming out? OMG I can hardly wait!
Suggestion!!! Make A Ship Called A Zebra Would Be Great!!!!
A classic case of cultural mix in is the use of "OK". That term comes from a country club in Kinderhook NewYork that several of the first presidents belonged too. The club was called Old Kinderhook, and you were OK or cool if you were a part of it. Therefore any film wishing to accurately portray some event previouse to the 1700s should not use that term.
You don't seem terribly good at doing your history homework, viking, besides yourself being a disgrace to the true historical vikings.
Old Kinderhook wasn't the first time "OK" was used in this way. American natives had the word "okeh" which means the same as English "okay." For further reading:
