Few suggestions from new player

Feb 05, 2015 tarenty link
Just a few comments:

1: I like this. Maybe a low hum.

2: No sound right now, but you do take damage and can die. Collisions used to be fatal at lower speeds, I still don't understand why that changed. I don't see a reason why not to add a sound effect for this.

3: Too easily exploitable.

4: Planned feature.

6: Sounds like an Atlas (a ship that exists already).

7: TapeHUD plugin is your friend. http://kitchen.nfshost.com/ven/plugins/#tapehud

9: Heck no. It would NOT be fun for pirates. Gotta think about those too, you know.

8, 10: Capships are still not fully developed. There are more versions and more stations coming eventually.

moon000, Some of the effects you mention, might be nice.

8. Nations use their capship building resources to build their own capships, I assume. Asking for this is like asking your gov't access to their tank building facility to build a few tank parts. If you want tank parts, you'll probably have to go somewhere less reputable. There are not player capship battles because capships are able to jump away and hide any of the numerous sectors which makes them a needle in a haystack. And the odds of having a pcb on you or a teammate, if you can get a team together that fast, when you come across one is very low.

9. losing a whole level would be too much. They get harder and harder to level up as you progress. Some points could be lost though. But, I think once you leveled up, you leveled up.

10. I'm not sure more capships is the answer unless they add multi sector radar to them so they can find each other. Something in between the Moth XC and the trident would be nice though. But, this may just isolate players more. Capships are independent moveable stations with unlimited repairs and reloads. Which means you can park it somewhere and you and your team, if you even want one, will never be found. And, when you haul stuff, you're virtually invincible as you travel about. It would be more fun to see more vulnerable ships flying around that aren't newbs leveling up with people working together as a team.

Yet another time-wasteful noob nonsense thread that shows how the OP is painfully oblivious to things. Why can't people just sit back, observe, and learn instead of barging and babbling nonsense?

moon000, no offense, but if you had taken the time to read older threads in the forums and played the game a bit longer, experiencing it from different perspectives, you would not have bothered with 99% of this TL;DR crap and actually made sensible suggestions.

who keeps pissing in your coffee, failure?

You thought that was my mad face? No, that was my happy face greenie.

I am glad that a new ambitious player is here. I am glad that he is playing the game. All I'm doing here is giving him advice on how to make more productive, workable suggestions.

For future reference, generally it is better to have individual threads for each suggestion. Otherwise discussion gets muddled up and it's also harder for the devs to sort through things. Though, in this case it's probably for the best since the majority of your suggestions are either already planned features, or have been suggested enough times already.

A hum and very mild damage for mining beams would be nice. Mining a ship should extract scrap rather than ore. It would especially amuse me if, every so often, hive bots mistook a ship that hadn't attacked any of them yet for an asteroid and tried to mine it.

Nice oberservations. Otherwise tarenty answered the way I would have.

That's a cool idea pizza

6: Sounds like an Atlas (a ship that exists already).

This. Have you tried an Atlas? It has a turret port, along with one small and one large ports. Sounds like exactly what you're asking for.

The model for Atlas is very old, contrary to the relatively recent model for Revenant. I don't think anyone likes how Atlas looks either, but it will be getting a makeover soon. Why don't you wait til then?

Also, people do use Atlas TPG Type X for combat a lot. It is very combat-worthy.

moon000... I appreciate your enthusiasm, but the rev mk3 is a very worthy combat ship even without a turret. The tpg atlas x is as well and has a rear turret I have used effectively. You'll find that going to and from a turret takes lots of practice and timing during encounters and will not necessarily add to the probability of your success in combat in a ship without shields. When you are in the turret, your ship cannot dodge.

I'd prefer a rear turret be added to the rag mk 3, which is chased by hounds for quick pks in station conquests, before any turrets are added to the rev.
