Credit for 'who mined it' when it's used
I'm working on the Basic miner badges, and I hate selling the ore to the station. Can the ore be marked with the ID of the player that mined it so when it's used in any way the mining credit goes back to the player who mined it? I'd like to sell the ore to people who need it for other missions, manufacturing etc.. I understand that points should not be awarded for just dropping it in space. I'm willing to wait until it's consumed by a mission or station for the points, I just don't want to have to sell it to stations myself.
I think I heard that if I use it in a mission myself it will get counted, but does that cover others using it in a mission?

This would require putting tracking data on every unit of ore rather than the much simpler volume mined / volume used tracking.

It would be better to make the mining missions group(able) missions, so you can collaborate by you mining it, the other hauling it, and all getting (part of?) the credit towards the mining badge.
Maybe adding tracking data to cargo is a good idea. That could also be used to fix the profit/loss info when commodities are jettisoned and picked back up.
+1. Besides what Arf mentioned, it would also give the game a way to know whether cargo was stolen and who it was stolen from, which could permit some more interesting piracy mechanics.

True, for most data storage systems this would be trivial, but I can't speak for how it's stored in VO.
