Corvus Marshal: alternative to grey faction

I think the dynamics and complexity of a grey faction isn't required, despite it being inevitable to eventually come to be. Some tell tale standings should be all that's needed to alert a player of a pirate.

All you really need is for corvus to have a marshal. Obviously not called a "marshal". Joining him in odia is how you become a "pirate", same way you become a bounty hunter. Doing so immediately makes you not in the military for serco or itani and hated in all factions except corvus. Also takes you out of the bounty hunting business for those nations.

You can stop being a pirate at anytime, but your standing losses do not go away. You will have to rebuild standing in all factions that you lost and Corvus standing will drop to dislike.

Then it becomes obvious who are pirates and who aren't. To encourage pirates to actually become a pirate, I propose 4 changes.

1. NPCS of your nation's faction act as "monitors" in whatever sector they are in. This is true for corps as well. As long as they are within radar range of either the victim or attacker, it will be as if in monitored space. This can stack if the NPC's are in another faction's monitored space or if multiple faction npcs are in the same sector. This only applies if the corp standing of victim is admire or higher or the nation standing is respect or higher.

2. If a player who is less than license 4 is killed outside of their nation space, a popup occurs that re-iterates a warning against accepting missions or otherwise leaving their nation space is a serious risk.

3. Only pirates can get respect or higher in corvus stations.

4. Energy drains, grey hounds, cor vults are only accessible with admire or above standing in corvus.

You become a pirate by pirating. NPCs and factions are irrelevant. Some pirates blend in and move freely among their nation's borders; some cannot because their mischief got away from them. The systems in place already care for this.

I'm not against the additional warning about leaving nationspace. A lot of people seem to be claiming to be new in greyspace these days (ain't no newbs in grey).

-1 for only pirates getting high standing in Corvus. Corvus isn't there for pirates. There are actually a lot of players who consider themselves Greyspacers and Corvusites that do not pirate.

Not sure about energy drains, but Hounds and Corvults already require admire I do believe.

first of all... grey isnt a faction. the idea behind is cutting all bonds with the Major nations. rzzzrt
however i'd like seeing people being able to choose that path, but what you suggested is not going to happen and is also not attractive enough for people to do it. Greyhounds wont go exclusive. remember the long term sub program? vrzzrzt...

+1 to the idea of newbies below Level 3 or 4 getting warning messages when shot down in grey. good idea. and Point it out very obviously in it that grey is dangerous and that the newbie better stayed in Nation space for a while longer to level. zuurzzzt

to make a grey-life in space worthful it needs other benefits. especially for the yarring folk of course but also for peaceful people "living" in grey. i dont think we'll see it anytime soon anyway. the devs are quite busy working on more beautiful lights it seems.
