shooting cargo
maybe it would be cool if cargo boxes had damage so they could be destroyed. I know we are all afraid of some jerk blasing our reactor when we are loading it from c12 but more important items could take more damage except maybe scrap, it should be the toughest. or maybe the ammount of cu the item is could reflect it's damage. I wouldn't mind seeing the conversation that results from this thread at least.

I think this would in some ways be an enhancement. My only concern is how this would affect bot farming- at least until manufacturing requirements stop being so silly.
Red Warrior has shot the food!
"Blue Valkyrie is about to die!"
Oo! That should be a taunt key.

Yes Greenwall but none of those threads specifically adress this topic. Thanks for finding similarities.
oh and I love gauntlet.

Good idea, but limit it to direct hits.
VO has enough area-effect explosions that would make it way too difficult to not shoot cargo otherwise.

+1 Great idea! If the cargo isn't in your ship, shouldn't the cargo risk taking damage if there is a nearby explosion just like a ship would? But, I'm good with direct hits, too.
I'm with Arf. I'm a firm believer that everything you can see or interact with should be destructible, but there do have to be some limits for the sake of practicality. The devs have already nerfed the scavenger play-style too much. Letting explosions damage cargo would be a pretty miserable thing to do. Requiring direct hits is an acceptable tradeoff to allow intentional destruction of cargo with a fairly low risk of accidental destruction. And as has been mentioned, some items should have more HP than others. A large Trident part should not die in one or two hits; a crate of fresh flowers, on the other hand...
I'd like there to be an exception to the "direct-hits-only" rule though, for the Solid Explosives and any similar commodities. Those should not only be susceptible to explosion damage, but should explode themselves when destroyed.

Would you and Arf agree that the avalon torpedo should be able to destroy cargo? It could be a feature of that particular explosion.
I don't believe cargo should only be able to be destroyed by one type of weapon only, it would make no sense.
Sorry, I met that in addition to directly firing at cargo to blow it up, that the explosion of an Avalon should also be able to destroy cargo.
It could be fun to make cargo be catapulted away by explosions rather than destroyed (the argument would be that their smaller size means the blast energy mostly causes movement rather than structural deformation).
Savet, ye might find fresh flowers to be tougher than ye think sweetheart.

I'm Rin, dear, and I bleed all over the place. I'm currently up to 11391 deaths so far. That's basically 57 cubic meters of blood.
Explosions pushing loot sounds like a fun idea, vanatteveldt.

A Rindear? Interesting. Blood is better served warm hun.

Definitely not.

This on the other hand, is an idea I can get behind, as long as the devs fix the cargo inside of roids problem.
Definitely not.
