Make Deneb NON-resettable
Make Deneb NON-resettable
More like Planetside2 grid / maps would be better.
Where the battle is ALWAYS ongoing and each sector is ALWAYS in play. Selectible sectors to retake. Whatever sector you or the team wish and NO pesky timer just join the battle.
If there are others in battle in a particular sector you should be able to join. A notice of where support is needed might be nice too.
There should be some significants to certain sectors where there would be communications arrays that need to be taken out, then another sector for supply depot. Perhaps tech labs and others.
Not exactly like Planetside2 map/grids but at least the ongoing battle that doesn't reset. Each sector is retakeable if desired.
Resource limits might be good too. Perhaps you can only use a certain number of each type of ship in that sector and not unlimited use for the battle.
If you run out of ships for the sector you have to wait a specified time to come back and try again, or use another ship until your all used up for that sector
Ships and weapons should be expensive at stations near Deneb too. Resources should be very very expensive.
Hauling weapons to station for Deneb wars would be less costly and more needed.
Anyhow sounds fun to me and would increase needed hauling to support the war efforts if any every does exist.

I'm all for improving Deneb, but I don't think this is it. I could be mistaken, but I believe the current arrangement in Deneb is that it was put in place to test some things for a more robust implementation later.
As too the specificis,
-1 Non resettable. I don't really think of the current method used as 'resetting'. I think of it more as a fixed time each week in which a new round of scoring can occur. The war itself doesn't pause, only our perception of how each side is doing within a weekly timeframe. I've actually suggested breaking it out into daily totals to supplement the weekly results as not everyone has the luxury of being active all week.
+1 to some significance to specific conflicts in Deneb. This could easily be done using the mission size as a guide. Doing the large or Border battle should count for far more than the small or fighter skirmish. In fact, rather than having the system automatically run the battles if no player takes them, I'd rather see fighter progress to small which progresses to medium and so forth.
-1 to resource limits. Simply put, this would require a complete redux of the game mechanics. I'm not saying scarcity is a bad thing, but one of the perks of playing the Deneb battles is that your repairs are free and if you get destroyed, your ship is replaced at no cost. The upside of the lack of scarcity and the low cost of almost everything, is that players aren't afraid to get involved and take risks or fight to the death.
-1 to increased cost to participating in Deneb. We want more participants, not less. Also as mentioned above, one of the perks is free repair and rebuy.
+1 to hauling. I'd like to see trade play a part in the outcome of Deneb battles, but I think it should be behind the scenes in some algorithm that mandates how successful the bots are and how intellegent cap ship AI behaves. Delivering Hull Panels all the way from Verasi for instance (the only source) could have an impact for instance.

Oh look another Deneb suggestion!
I like the idea of altering the current complete reset that occurs weekly and replacing it with something that is more permanent until changed (like with conquerable stations). But even if that was done, it would have zero impact on Deneb participation. I still maintain that any change done to Deneb must be done with the sole purpose of getting more people up there.
Nowadays, only the Itani participate with any significant effort, which is surprising giving how long ago the serco nationalists gave up. To get people up there you need to make the rewards desirable: i.e. capship part drops.

Hey! I only have the one butterfly net. I do what I can ;)
On the topic of capships dropping parts, I'd rather see them drop damaged parts that need to be refurbished for minimal effort.
greenwall,
Yeah that sounds good more rewards drop capship parts sounds good too
More participation is good, but it's not going to happen like it is now.
People are not interested unless new players just want to experience large battles for a while then get bored with it.
I'm not sure there is much of a point to it after the initial short term experience is gone.
I guess the real question is why come back, why would you go to Deneb and what would cause people to go there ?
With that in mind the various degrees of subjects should be explored or you have little to NO activity in Deneb as usual.
I mean WOW look at the Deneb participation page it's gone from bad to worse.
Not to make matters worse but Deneb has high potential IMO.
I don't know the answers but seems like somewhere in the lines of a real reason to be there other then just shooting stuff.
Some purpose or something.
Currently there is no purpose other then to experience it for a while then get bored. No one needs you to do it and you have no goal to continue in Deneb.
If there was some specific battles with rewards for winning them perhaps.
Even new players with EC's should have a way to join the fight in certain sections that they could have some impact on the overal war in Deneb.
I don't know how exactly but only that ALL should have a reason to go there and be there.
Command stations for general (sunk my battleship) tactics and planning.
Nations could move fleets to certain sectors or something, I know a lot of coding but something fun for everyone to actually WANT to be there.
Why go there now anyhow ? I can't see a good reason do you ?

Perhaps make the Deneb station that is currently itani, an off-wormhole station that falls under the national control (serco or itani) of the previous week's winners of Deneb. So if serco won last week, then for a week Serco would control the base. Same for Itani.
The prize (other than an in-system station) is you get to purchase a weapon variant that is only sold at that station and you can only purchase it 1 time a day (controlled military prototype rules or such can be the reason). Killing a player carrying it may or may not drop it.
Only players who are currently active in a deneb mission can land on the station since it's for military personnel only. etc.
That would get people's attention, no matter what their level or how long they've played.
