Great game love it still finding controls a bit tricky turning starts like a slug and quickly accelerates out of control
Griefers are everywhere they dont care if your in gaurded or un gaurded space
There should be Npcs near spawn points at moment grey space only dangers seem to be from other people and if there the ones causing the danger they are in no danger themselves
Piracy is non existent ive not been asked for money once yet leaving and docking from stations im killed in less than a sec
Traveling places quite frankly sux as you come out of worm hole you can be dead in about 5 sec by time you turn to fight back your allready dead
Just not fun you expect new players to subcribe to get ganked in noob space well it wont happen
Galactic map could do with a little tweaking make it more like a spiral galaxy with 4 arms you can have a central choke point and a few outer systems for short cuts and the deneb war etc and have missions to grey space from the three nations that all pass through it and have to travel several systems along the arm to get there that way you might actaully get real pirates and not just noob griefers set home needs an alternative return to nation button so your not pinned into a station till you quit game
bigger differences in ships it dont seem to matter when mission running if your in a dart or an icarus or bigger when mission running you still die equally quickly game needs a cruiser class

Bud you need to learn to deal with pirates. Here's a useful link.
http://www.viperguild.com/wiki/

When you're being hailed you must absolutely power down your engines and bring your ship to null speed.
If you fail to do so, the pirate thinks you are trying to escape, he has only a few seconds to take a decision before you be out of reach of jump or dock to a station.
Shouting out loud on sector channel (shift+t) you are willing to comply may help too, a target who's not responding is taking a risk to get killed.

And keep in mind there be no safe place in vo.
So get better, get friends, get even the game's called Vendetta for a reason.

yer beloved Capt'N.

PS No EC-89 allowed in grayspace ye will be fired upon. (Azumi directive #1)

Hello spikie1 and welcome to VO!
While I wonder quite a bit how all that misery that you speak of happened to you I would aswell like to pass some advice to you in a non-piratey way for a change (I'm a Trader of TGFT who also focuses on Player to Player Combat, therefore piracy hunting etc.).

Regarding griefers in Nation Space:

To my observation there are not as many griefers as you feel when you are new, those who are there are just incredibly loud mouthed aswell as annoying. In Nation space you are relatively safe, only the odd pirate gets up there and they usually watch out because they risk major standing loss for shooting you. IF you are however griefer inside of nation space e.g. at a UIT Station then call on Chat for help. One another vet might stand up for and tell whoever is causing the crap to let you go.

Going to Grey space:

By all means, if you know that you are new, stay away there if you don't like to pay pirates. You can't label every pirate a griefer. Pirates just don't like if you ignore them and think you can get away in your Revenant. So if you must go to grey, have some money to pay. Trust me, you won't get away.
If you ever plan to get good at combat there's one more important rule: To get good you must fight a lot and explode a lot. Even when you got respectably good there will be still weak ships and as time progresses you'll eventually cross weaknesses out..

Other guys in Grey space:

Of course you can get unlucky. I don't know about your faction, but if you are Itani or Serco then a Player from another side can cross your way. And if you're unlucky he's not a friendly Miner but a warrior instead. He won't accept payment, only options are to run or fight. Once you improved your combat and made yourself a Name you'll get less hassle of this; people will think twice if they want to risk a 1v1 with you.
The other option is what you are so afraid of: griefers. There are indeed a few Players that fly around just to destroy people's ships. Here applies the same as above: Run or fight. The Station Camping you can speak of will usually only happen at Corvus stations where there are no penalties for destroying people in NFZ beside a temp. KOS Status which means nothing. So just don't home at Corvus if you're afraid of this and you should be fine.

What you should NOT do:

You should, especially as a newbie, never join a guild blindly. If you stumble into a pirate guild on accident, then 75% of the people (including me) will chase you and destroy you. Most vets want to teach newbies a lesson that way, so actually meaning well when Shooting you down once or twice and telling you you are in a pirate guild. Listen to those guys if you feel there is something to it.
Once you found out what you like to do ask around in chat for guilds that suit your interest. Most guilds have a website and people in chat will happily guide you there with a link so you can grasp further information.
Try to always act in a friendly and thankful manner when you ask for stuff or want people to listen to, never be rude. Vets don't like unfriendly newbies.

Other than that.. Enjoy playing VO, don't mind unfriendly people, you'll get into this and even the bad guys are happy to have you around deep inside theirself!

Kind regards,

Sieger

Mostly if Sieger tells you to leave somebody alone, you shoot them even more. It's a thing. And if Ecka tells you.. well, you cancel your workday and keep killing them until they logoff!

You may call me a griefer, but at least I know how to punctuate my sentences. Indeed, your obvious lack of competency with such a basic and essential technique of modern life makes me think that perhaps you simply have no mental faculties whatsoever, which makes it hard to take your claims seriously. Who are people going to believe, the blithering man-child or the well-written gentleman pirate?

In any event, I ask that you kindly revise your definition of "grief" with respect to this game. Vendetta was designed as an open-PVP universe where safety is only relative. It is perfectly valid to play a racketeer, an extortionist, a terrorist, or even a wanton murderer. None of the these roles automatically constitute griefing. Would you call me a griefer if we were playing Chess and I took your rook? When you get right down to it, this is a game about shooting people in space, and we are playing the game with no obligation to conform to your delicate sensibilities. We can play our villainous characters however we deem fit. If you simply cannot accept this, then allow me to recommend an alternative.

Finally, regarding your desire for a way home to nation space, there is a solution. Simply shoot another ship within the NFZ of the faction you are currently homed at. There is no need to kill them (which would entail a permanent penalty). Once you've scratched their paint, you'll be given temporary Kill On Sight status among that faction. As a consequence, your home station will be reset to your nation's capitol. Once you've died, you will respawn in your native space and the temporary penalty will be lifted.

Pizzasgood, don't be needlessly rude. You sound like a troll even if you are trying to help in some way.

When somebody has so little respect for their audience as to post the sort of drivel you can see heading up this thread, I feel no obligation to be nice to them.

It's always nice to see someone carrying on the good fight. You tell 'em, Rin!

I'm with Rin on this too. I made it about 5 lines into the OP, then went "oh, its another one of these threads, skipped the rest of the OP, and amused myself reading the replies.

A few commas, periods, and some capitalization goes a long way. So long as they are in the right places.

The problem might be this:

if there (sic) the ones causing the danger they are in no danger themselves

This is a non sequitur.
