Limit faction change favor to licence 3/3/3/-/- and only once
Since ship are restricted to specific nation, Dev favor to change faction should not be granted for players having a level higher than 3/3/3/-/- and only once.
This favor might be used as a cheat to stockpile ships of both enemy sides and is against the fairness of the game.
Players having abused this favor are strongly encouraged, on their honor, to sell all the ships they had acquired on the previous faction after the faction mutual exclusion update.
Devs are strongly encouraged to watch this matter because this is a serious exploit.

$5 to get a name change, $5 to get a faction change. Have to wait x months before another change.
I don't like the idea of a strict limit at level three because I've been playing 9 years, have never asked for a nation change, and am considering one now. The character I want to change is 7 years old and rarely used. If I ask for the change I don't consider it an abuse of the system.
It would be an abuse if you keep nation specific ship after the faction change.
The game interface does not allow you to change faction by default, it is not a feature it is a dev favor.
You want to change faction do it like a man, delete your char and start over or start another character you have 6 slots.

+1; though I think they should just eliminate changes altogether. If the char is at level 3 or under when you change your mind, they're so new that you might as well just delete them and remake them with the same name instead of wasting valuable dev time. As for longer-term characters: tough shit.

I've remade myself sooo many times, it's stupid. But once you know what you are doing, it's possible to make a useable character in a matter of hours. Sure, you might lose trade 23 or whatever, but do you really need it?
Be a man, delete your char and start again if you made a bad choice.

Eh, there's some stuff that's really damn annoying to do once and you probably don't want to do it again. (Building a Trident comes to mind)
I'm with csgno1 on this one. Do it, but charge $5 so that at there's a deterrent to just trivially changing names. Maybe make the first bump free since a lot of newbs end up making characters during the trial with botgenerator names.

Tridents have nothing to do with this; the inability to transfer them is an independent issue that should be corrected along with ultimately making them non-magic. And anyway, I don't care. If somebody is so incompetent that they invest months of effort into a character that they don't actually want, they have only themselves to blame. (Though I suppose I can understand offering a limited window of opportunity for people who created characters prior to the last faction change, since they created those characters under a different ruleset. Say, get it done before this August or forever hold your peace.)
Furthermore, Inc has previously mentioned a desire to have in-game faction changes, with ensuing permanent standing limitations due to anybody doing so necessarily being traitorous scum and/or braindead. Okay, I'm paraphrasing. Anyway, providing consequence-free transitions triggered out-of-game undermines that, and is therefor a practice which should be done away with.

That's essentially pay-to-win, since faction has functional impact on gameplay.
(I am fine with paying to get a name change, though it should be more like $50, and I'd prefer additional restrictions on such stupidity... but whatever. Just not faction changes.)

So, what we have right now is ask-nicely-to-win? :P

One of the reasons I suggested a fee is because it costs GS time to do these things.
If I delete my character, does the name become available immediately for me to use again?

Yes, csgno1.
Arf: Yup. Probably why people want it changed, I reckon.
