Here's a few examples of bots that will just lie down and take it when they're under attack but the target they're supposed to defend is in no danger:

- Hive Queen escorts (most of the time)
- Convoy escorts
- Pet Furies
- Dr. Lecter's mom (gimp hive queen)

Far be it from me to argue with a change in their behavior: I'd like nothing better than for them to divert from following a convoy when someone shoots them. But their prioritization of convoy proximity above self-preservation via turning to fight is indeed intended behavior.
