But given that ship trading has come up again for discussion, it got me thinking about the hounds.
I think the Greyhound needs to have its access limited to only those with non-Corvus hate standing (hate with EVERYONE except corvus).
Reasons why:
-Pirate numbers have dwindled to almost nothing. Give them a reason to come back.
-The hound's uncatchable nature has been abused by many (particularly BR1 and RED) in the form of the uncatchable-ship-of-annoyance. In fact, you are more likely to see a BR1 or RED in a hound than any of their own nation-specific ships. I think only pirates/privateers should have access and ability to use such a ship. Serco have their recently over-buffed SVG if they want to chase anyone, itani have the valk, and the UDV is a pretty fast ship too. And then if people want they can build a superlight. Those ships are all completely sufficient.
-The hound has become the go-to ship for conquering and defending stations. Taking this out of the equation for all but pirates would make for very interesting gameplay.
-The hound is as exclusive as the Valk X1 or the Skyprom, but without comparable accessibility limitations. If you really want to have your exclusivity idea work, it has to be for ALL elite ships. You can't ignore Corvus anymore.

Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE zipping around in the hound. And yeah I've used it to annoy serco. But, while fun in the short term, it isn't good for this game.
This change wouldn't make it impossible for everyone to access the hound as the nation exclusivity changes did with nation ships, but it will be close enough. Also you'd have to figure out some other benefit for long-term subscribers. But this is really worth doing now.

I sti'll don't support the idea of making Corvus a pirate only faction, I do now agree that the hound should be available only to players who have shown in some way that they are criminal.
Take away the standing magic and make it possible to lose Corvus standing. do it in a way that results in a permanent situation for the player so that they can't just play the standing game and keep switching sides to get more of their favorite ships at will.
The camo reward can be shifted to any of the nation exclusive ships.

Corvus isn't a pirate faction. Corvus is (and should be) a rogue UIT corporation. It's politics should reflect.
Keller, historically....sure. But Corvus can evolve. Greenwall's suggestion is sound.
+1 to the Hound becoming a ship to which access and national standing are mutually exclusive. -1 to Corvus keeping the Hound unless the Devs make it a true pirate faction. We need an actual pirate faction, and Corvus has never been it because the Devs are too busy keeping them "neutral."

If only incarnate hadn't sold the exclusive greyhound skin to a whole bunch of carebears that would post all day long about how much they they hate that this happened.

I think any existing hounds would have to be tolerated, however. Since it wouldn't be expected that a player who owned a hound would lose it should he/she repair faction with a nation. It was already paid for after all. Also, if ship trading is made available, then you couldn't expect the hound to turn into a pink EC-89 upon taking ownership :)
Also, I wouldn't expect the player to have hate status with all the non-nation factions (XX, Ineubis, Axia, et al).
