@Pizzasgood I see what you mean

Then what about just a sensor jamming device you could drop, I'm sure there could be an easy plugin to detect if a person was was just sitting in the station you could drop a probe to sensor jam a particular person in station then the bot would be useless.
Traders could drop jamming probes and control what or who they want to jam and then get on with trading. It's a bot defense system.

Regardless of whether it's human or bot won't matter it can be configurable to jam who ever.

Not really cloaking device on the ship though it would have to be built and dropped.
And have limits to how many bots it might jam. Perhaps only 1 character could be jammed and only at that location too.

Not system wide or anything.

Have the station bartender call "Last Call" every now and again. Anyone who does not buy a Double Dragon Blomb, tip the barkeep (and the Bard singing in the corner) generously is booted into space with KOS (in a free buss if they try to get around this by not having a ship, or better yet: spaced in their underwear!), AND logged out if they do not make amends upon their untimely demise…

Exits are North, South, and Dennis

Speaking of which, we need station-specific KOS's: you may be welcome in Dau D-9, you gotta lot of nerve showing up at Latos N2, after what YOU pulled...

yeah, yeah… topic for another thread that probably has countless instances already…

[EDIT: And for the day that missions can be ferreted out by chatting up NPC's: a per station bartender AND bar-fly customer standings is an absolute MUST! Each should have a rival to whom your standings are mutually exclusive, PLUS all standings gravitate to Neutral the longer you stay away and/or don't tip your bartender/buy rounds for the house, get in fights, etc.]

oh and +1 to the OP, cuz I hate botz.

It's really not very hard for me to totally stop bots. But I've not wanted to do so until I had something that could replace it and allow external development within boundaries that are good for the game. Like some sort of sandbox API where we could limit certain types of bot awareness, but also let people create.. I dunno.. persistently interactive NPC representatives maybe? Something cool that wouldn't obviate a lot of the good things that have come from bot development, but without the downsides inherent in the current situation.

Developing that API and.. concept would take some time though. It might be a good use for another (separate) Suggestion post, if people had ideas on how that could work, and what it might be capable of doing and not-doing (like, for instance, not being aware of the passage of local players unless they directly contacted the bot).

BOTS! BOTS! BOTS! Those nasty no good bots!

There are few things a bot can do, that a player can not do better. If it is a problem that a bot can do it, then it is probably a problem that a player can do it.

What is the problem with bots sitting in a station? Stop trying to fix the bot, and fix the station.

This game needs some serious fixes in relation to bots, and fixing the bots is not it.

If you are in a station sector, in range of the station, every player across the galaxy should know you are there. No bot should be required. Stations have lots of loud mouthed, busy body, gossiping, snitches. bots should not be required to implement this feature, it should be built into the game. It should be an inherent feature of each station. There should actually be a screen that you look at in your hud that shows a log of all station traffic across the galaxy. And not just station traffic. Every major voy you pass in space, and especially any voy you attack, should add your time and location to the log, for every other character in the galaxy to see.

and then we won't need bots for that anymore, will we?
