Increase shield strength

"this is just a case of Lecter and Pizza supporting changes about gameplay they only ever intend to experience from one angle."

Actually, you are wrong. I fully intend to obtain a Trident and someday a Connie, at a bare minimum. I intend to use them as my mobile base of operations while, e.g., pirating within Dau. I just don't intend to build them myself and am content to wait until alternative methods become more practical (preferably theft).

I have no issue with the idea of somebody stopping my trident with a PCB. I'll simply get out and kill them. Getting molested by a superlight with a PCB is a pathological case; the vast majority of the time they'd be in something easier to hit. Even so, the SL+PCB situation mandates backup on his side, so we will assume I can call for backup as well. Once my backup arrives (if it wasn't there from the beginning), either we double-team the SL, or I resume piloting and the escort distracts the SL while I leave. With turrets and a fighter after him, the SL will not be able to prevent me from jumping out indefinitely unless my escort is completely incompetent; I only need a momentary break in the stream of fire for my FC to hit 25%. And then I will be invincible! Muahahahaha, none shall ever vanquish the- *ahem*

And what makes you think bombers would ever come into play even if the PCB didn't work on shields? How do you intend to pin the trident down while the bomber arrives? It will simply leave, random hop until safe, and declare victory. Protection from the PCB would only make sense if the jump mechanics were changed to prevent unconstrained rapid hopping, or if some other means of jump-suppression were implemented which (guess what!) still bypassed the shields.

"Update said that the shield strength was the same as the NPC trident, which apparently it is not."

No, it didn't say anything about the shield strength actually. It only said "Player-owned capships now have shields that work the same way as NPC capship shields."

"The update also said that it would work the same way as it works for the NPC tridents, which are completely unaffected by PCB's."

That has nothing to do with their shields. NPCs just cheat at things like jumping, rendering the PCB nearly useless against all NPCs, whether shielded or not.

Also: Note that I'm not opposed to making the shields themselves stronger/faster. I said from the beginning that I wasn't sure weak shields would be a good idea, particularly if the PCB bypassed them. I'm not going to +1 making them stronger, but I'm not -1ing it either.

These are junker tridents we build out of broken junk parts from junked hive bots, why should they be on par with NPC tridents

That's a lot of explaining for ultimately a sit on the fence.

That was an explanation of why I support the PCB bypassing shields, which I'm not on the fence about at all.
