Increase the group limit already!

This has been suggested so many times!

It's still a problem on at least a weekly basis. Frequently more often, as larger groups of players have to work together to attack/defend conquerable stations.

Groups in missions already support more than 8 members and have for a few years. The Hive Skirmish and Border Skirmish missions do it all the time. We even used this to work around the stupid limit for Nation War on Sunday.

What is blocking this feature? Can't you just turn it up to like, 16 or 24?

Yes. I know some people would rather have a fancy-pants hierarchical system instead, and that's fine, but that will take time to implement. In the meantime, large groups are already implemented. We should be enabled to use the existing large group implementation for now until the devs get around to the group overhaul, which isn't all that important IMO compared to things like supply scarcity, a fancier military system, and a real manufacturing interface.

I think last time they were like "other games have similar group sizes" and then they stopped answering and the time before that was "we're busy with things" and the time before that was "8 group members should be enough for everyone"

They've also tried to claim that it's not "simple" to change, as though it isn't already implemented.

Well it still might not be simple... is any change simple in this game? Seems not.

We ran into a fairly substantial low-level problem that halted the development at the time when we last approached this, and obviously we haven't picked it up since. We have talked about it in the last 2 months though.

Hive skirmishes and group missions are not 1:1 analogues of generic groups.

But, request noted, I brought it up in a meeting recently and I'll do so again now that we have a lot of the capship work further along.
