Ship class Idea!
Just trying to make things more interesting for the community, I had an idea. look at the ships currently in VO - we have:
Fighters (centurian, EC, vulture, etc.) small/medium size
Assaults (Ragnarok, centaur, hornet, etc.) Medium/large size
Cargo/mining ships (Marauder, behemoth, atlas, etc.) Medium/large size
........
Capitol ships (Trident, Teradon, HAC, etc.) Gigantic/just INSANE size
Is there anything missing here? think about it: the biggest ship that is normal is behemoth, and then we have . . . . a capship with 4 times the cargo? the behemoth was BUILT to haul cargo!! There seems to me to be a BIG gap there. I was thinking of one more level, beyond heavy ships, but not to the point of capships, and DO have to be assembled with a mission, but are a bit larger than a behemoth, and can be docked at any station. They would be MUCH slower than most ships, but have more weapon ports, and one idea I have is interesting . . . 1 ship idea is below for this class (at least 2 more coming):

Now, before everyone goes crazy over the extra energy slot being overpowered, think about this: will the armor even compare to a trident's? no, not one bit. will it compare to it's cargo? no, it only has 105. the only advantage this ship has is more weapons - and it'll be crushed underneath any sensible trident captain. on the other hand, it's a ton more powerful than any rag, or any other ship below it, but how good is it's turn rate? about half as slow as a trident, so it's terrible at turning. almost any fighter class ship can pound this thing to dust, so what is it's advantage? guns. lots and lots of guns. thinking that the extra energy cell will balance it? yea, it will.

I decided to make the requirements a bit high so that it's a bit of a grind to get all of the stuff, but not too much, to the point of the trident.

Ok, this is my second Super Heavy ship. now, this one also has two power cell slots again, but it's a CARGO ship - and guess what it has? 400 cargo. it also has improved turbo speed, but also it is 20k heavier, and a bit longer, so it's a very slow behemoth with twice the cargo of the XC, with tons more weapons where there were none. It also has lots of armor that a pirate has to chew through, also unlike any behemoth. you might be thinking: this would make a INSANE mining ship! well, working on one that's better right now - just look below this! (requirements coming soon for the ship above)

Now, this is made to improve the mining system that you guys have. before you all get confused, the mining system in VO is nothing in comparison to most games - EVE is an example, but I won't get into that (EVE is way too complicated to ever explain in one or two posts).
Now, what is different about this ship? obviously, it's a mining ship as stated above, but what is with the "compressed cargo"? I thought one thing: mining ships don't have enough cargo, or enough mining ability. think about it this way: the compressed cargo is for mined minerals ONLY - it can't be used for normal cargo or to move minerals from one spot to another, and you can fit 1 ore in each space (Premium or not). and also, why not have dedicated large MINING BEAM slots? they would give you 25% extra speed in mining, but could only be used for large mining beams, so a ship with 10 large mining beams wouldn't be an OP ship for PVP - in fact, the only two defenses of this ship is it's 30k armor, and it's one turret! (working on requirements for the ship now)

Well, ship suggestions usually belong in the suggestions forum. If you ask Phaserlight, he could move it for you. That would get more people looking at and talking about it.
Believe it or not, Tridents aren't terribly fearsome in combat. You'd more likely fall prey to smaller fighters in this ship than you would a Trident.
That's why I wanted to make this - it only has a niche use, but it doesn't require the same stuff as the trident, because that is just insane how much stuff is needed for that.

-1 Better to fly an XC and ask for an escort. 105 cube can't even carry most Trident parts, which would be the only reason I would really need such a heavily armed ship.

This is not supposed to be a cargo ship - please read a bit more above, it's supposed to be an assault ship by default. working on what is needed to manufacture right now - it's hard. i'll also release another ship idea - this one will be the behemoth upgrade.
When someone suggested adding 2 large ports onto the already existing 2 small ports on the UDV, I thought "this is it.Now Ive heard everything." , but when Ive read this thread, It turns out that I havent. I mean reaaally? Seriously? No, really?
YES. Look at the requirements for the first - manufacturing is at least for a week! this is no easy make. if this could be bought, yes, it would be crazy. but it can't be bought. look at the turn rates - most are slower than a behemoth, and speeds are as fast as the EC-89 or slower than a trident. yes, I agree, it is everything - I came up with this to make a whole new aspect to the game, worked on it a whole weekend day - this is balanced, and if it isn't enough, I will work more on it. However, I thank you for your advice. and btw, I saw the UDV suggestion, and it isn't as crazy as it sounds - read the posts a bit more.

I am NOT kidding. I find endlessly grinding for a trident that can't even be docked in barely any stations not very interesting for a game - my friend is not going to pay for another month of this game because he's bored of grinding for a trident that might be obsolete once complete! both of us find a gap in-between the tridents and heavy craft - that is why I am suggesting this. and before saying that I have no patience for getting stuff - I'm fine with something that takes between 2 weeks and a month to build, but months with no reward? there needs to be more stuff in the middle of this game - EVE online (which I have played the TRIAL of) has more stuff to do than this game, but I couldn't afford it at the time. I decided to try VO - and I loved it at first. for the first month (which I am still on) things work very smoothly. but for any experienced game player (such as myself) I already have most of the ships unlocked - I'm 7/7/5/8/4, at playing 2 hours per day! I find myself looking at just more variations of ships that I already have mastered - the centurion superlight is an example. but what I do not find in this game is ships that are easier to make than 4 month long projects, and things that don't take 1 hour do get. yes, all the specialty weapons and ships would take up to a year to get, but how interesting is that? "oh, I just got something that has 1 more DPS and has everything else the same that I spent a whole weekend to get" after the first 4 weapons and ships, I'm getting bored. what is left to do or get?
I have suggested this to make a suggestion for a new class of ships. My friend Drakon Kugelblitz has already stated that this would add a whole new level to the game - and a whole new angle. why go from centurions with railguns to super heavy ships? well, think of it this way: the gunship would have much more firepower than a trident, making the tridents susceptible to something other than ultra-skilled pilots and trident captains. Overall, EVE became successful because they added in ships of every size - and the players just said here in VO: ADD IN THE CAPSHIPS!!! forgetting about the majority of gameplayers that want to have a slow, steady amount of progress to be made. I'm not saying that EVE is better, or that we need to copy them - I don't like EVE because of it's over-complexity. This game was made with a better group of fans, better system of running, and more flexibility (I've never heard of EVE on anything but a PC) and this game has many of the same things in it, and some that EVE doesn't have (For one, I don't know if it has bounty hunting pirates like YT-1300 - or as annoying) and if it does have it, this game does it better - except in one way. ships. they have dozens of ships, almost all of them unique, unlike our 19, with about 2-5 variants each. I say that after they finish all the capship designs and get them working, the devs need to work on something that is in the middle - not that it is my designs, by no means am I going to say that. It's just that there needs to be something in the middle - and for now, the middle does not exist.
Who will make the designs? not for me to say - it must be come up with by the community. maybe you will take one of mine, but it is not for me to say. what it is for me to say is that it is needed, perhaps for in the future, not now, but maybe in 1.9 or even 2.0 - that's up to the devs.
Let's all hope that something new is made, because this game is incredible - and I can't believe that it hasn't surpassed EVE - but I hope in the future it does - and trust me, it will.
