No more bugs!
Now that you have an artist, PLEASE redesign the queens and levi to look more like advanced technology than garden bugs.
lol +1
How do you define "advanced technology?" They are already technically advanced technology by the standards of 2014. Why do the aesthetics of the form-factor matter? I'd like to see some spider bots.
I would have no objection if the insect form played a part in how the bot functions. For instance, if the queen used the legs to grip the asteroid it is mining. But come on man! Those legs don't even wiggle.
By the standards of 2014, VO is 19th century :p

That's merely an engine limitation. Would you have them take time away from gameplay enhancements in order to make queens' legs "wiggle?"
I actually like the way it currently is. :P
-1. Moar bugz plz.
Yeah, moar bugs.
Spiders ain't bugs they're arachnids.
yeah. more bugs/insects/arachnids!! in fact the collector, transport, and gaurdians should look more insect-like stick to a theme with the bots.
+1 to moar bugs!
Also, +1 to making them move and their legs work. It'd be scary as hell to have a queen chasing Tridents down, grabbing on to them, and tearing them apart with hive positrons.

The point of this thread is not the legs. Its their outdated appearance. This is exactly like watching a movie made 50 years ago about space, where they have those old TVs onboard the spaceships that arent even flat screen and dont have color, but it looked advanced anyway when they made it.Same with VO.Many things are outdated now, but it didnt look that way when it was first being designed.Still though, everyone is aware of this stuff, Devs are working at it to the best of their ability, Incarnate stated multiple times he will change every pixel of this game with time, no need to even mention it, no need to ask.
-1 to insecticide. Just make them COOLER, like make the Leviathan's segments articulated, and have it slink around it's xith-ring
The levi's design makes sense. It is supposed to be a huge mobile autonomous mining, refinement, and manufacturing facility. The sensible thing to do when designing something like that is to make it modular, so that it can easily be expanded/reconfigured/repaired in pieces without significantly disrupting the overall functionality. So each of those segments the levi has is a module. Being connected with flexible joints rather than rigid ones also makes sense -- a rigid object that large puts a lot of stress on itself when moving. Breaking it up into a bunch of articulated modules significantly reduces that stress.
It's basically a fancy space-train.
There is also the psychological angle to examine. The hive is more efficient when left alone. The AI has probably found through testing that designs humans find creepy help to deter random civilians from interfering, by shifting the balance of their fight or flight response toward flight.
