As draugath mentioned, it shouldn't happen. You want to fly your trident around then bring escorts and gunners.

Or fire your own turrets, since you can do that now.

Too bad about the turrets' locations on the Trident's hull. Flechette, Neutron, Gauss, whatever. All of them are irrelevant if your enemy can just hide in the enormous lateral stripe of a blind spot encircling the ship. NPCs do this automatically and non-stupid players do it too.

Faceof has a perfectly valid complaint here, poorly articulated as it is. Unfortunately, a "Craftable Flak Addon...." is not a solution.

Your pesky tridents can carry ships. How about carrying a ship to help you defend. Think about it. You trident owner have turrets, mines, and ships at your disposal when defending your tridents. Sorry faceof, but if you can't defend your trident against one assailant. Then you just suck.

I'm not even talking about your anecdotal interaction with Faceof. I'm talking about how the Trident's turrets placement makes them generally useless in defending it in any threatening situation.

If you jump your Trident in to a sector with a hostile NPC convoy, you're basically dependent on pure luck being far enough away to hit the turbo and leave before the bots tear your ship to pieces. Undocking is often not an option because they'll destroy your fighter before you're able to control it.

I know you've seen this first hand, Inevitable. A swarm of CtC escort bots can deshield and destroy a Trident before it can get up to escape speeds. Bots and players both preemptively move out of the range of Neutron and Gauss turrets, leaving only the weak, slow firing Geminis to deal minimal damage.
