It's ready to go.
-1 to OP.
So, instead of -1, could you perhaps reflect on what you would want changed about the "new" vulture (Awesome Edition) to make this a "+1" instead?
And don't tell me "BECAUSE I WANT TO KEEP THE OLD ONE AROUND FOREVER AND EVAR", we've been over that, and it is not going to happen.
The replacement will inherit all the same stats across all variants, so the stats themselves are not central to the debate.. unless someone thinks a change is needed in some way to compensate for the new model's distribution of mass, or other factors.
The biggest questions are to whether the rotational inertia is sufficient, the weapon placement is ok, etc.

Maybe we should get the Nation War event going again and encourage the use of the new vulture? Give it a thorough test.

Oh you're right actually. Just got a mark IV against a S.A.N.E and there is a noticeable difference. The S.A.N.E is noticeably slower to turn than its older modeled cousin. If you move up and down with mouselook on consistently the Mark IV keeps up better. Is that what you mean?

Agreed, the SANE feels a bit sluggish on the turns. Other than that, I like 'em.
Inc, could you take whatever formula the game engine uses to calculate the ship's angular momentum and tweak the torque and length stats until they match? That'd make this a definite 1:1 drop-in replacement without affecting the ship's handling at all.
I mean, unless you wanted it to not turn as well, which would make the Centurion line a bit more relevant in the light fighter space. As it is now, the Vulture's usually a better choice because of the smaller hit profile and better armor.
As for weapon placement, I'd suggest moving the ports back closer to the wings so heavier addons don't make it swing around even more than it already does.

If non-faction Centurions are to become relevant as anything more than a newbie stepping-stone, they need significant stat tweaks - a huge reduction in weight, for example.
This thread is about Vultures though, so the most important difference I've noticed when shooting at the SANE is that it's a lot easier to hit with energy. If the goal is not to make the Vulture worse as a fighter, it may need a stat tweak like more thrust or less weight across the full line to make up for that.

It strafes just as well as the MkIV does, so I really don't think it needs a thrust buff. Too bad the MkIV wasn't anything to write home about.
There's a reason only the NPCs fly that one.

I actually thought the moment of inertia was a bit less, but that's not based on any kind of scientifically measured observation (it could be due to the fact that I'm getting older and my perception of time has changed). Moving the weapon ports further apart would certainly make turns feel more sluggish, assuming weapon mass is localized on weapon port location.
I agree with the OP; the new Vulture fills the same role as the old (1:1 comparison against Mk IV) and is ready to go, unless someone wants to repeat an experiment like the one I linked to.

I think it's ready to go, the only difference i noticed is that the hitbox appears to be a bit more squarish then rectangular which is a welcome change.
It needs a thrust buff to compensate for the taller collision model unless making it easier to hit is a goal. Of course, a thrust buff doesn't directly counteract being a bigger target, but flown properly, it could compensate for the newly-introduced nerf.
well the mkiv is probably the worst model of vult so i would wait and see how the corvult or svg handles the new model
Yeah, what peytros said.
Peytros, you know ships don't have hit "boxes" in VO, right? There's a 3d mesh you have to hit...
i mean the target box that pops up when you target the shit
Right, but that doesn't have anything to do with the hit profile of the ship.
I said -1 bc I don't like TRS.
Also I don't ever fly vultures enough to care about their stats... but I am thankful for new stuff anytime it appears.

make a single large port version of the new vult for greenwall so he can put swarms on it :p
someone make a new model of the rag so that greenwall will have a reason to care.
Personally, I think the vulture, rag, and hornet, are the only cool looking ships in the game. With the new vulture we are now 1/3 closer to having no cool left.
