Eschew the "warp exit" animation.

Instead, when exiting a warp, have the player immediately returned to 1st person view with control of their ship.

How about this: every time we warp we get a prompt asking if we'd like to see the warp animation from 1st or 3rd person view? It should also have the options to remember that preference, and whether or not it should ask again the next time you warp.

And then after the warp animation is complete, we should get a short message asking if we'd like to take a survey, and, should we do so, we would be entered to win a 5,000 credit prize which is drawn once every three years so long as we enter three of our friend's emails and like it on facebook.

The animation is there to cover up the loading time so getting rid of it would only leave you a blank screen for the time period.

But there's already a loading screen. Why does it need to cover up an extra second or two after the previous loading screen completes?

I think it might be more of a way to level the field for slower vs. faster computers. If I have a faster computer and a better connection, you won't live to see the new sector otherwise.

I'd have to guess greenwall works for Zynga.

The game doesn't start loading anything during the warp animation as far as I can tell. It's just a period of time where you can't control your ship and might get blown up. Why not enjoy the change of view?

IIRC the warp animations were there because pirates, and vipers would have a ship dead to rights and lose them to a warp where they insta-blinked out. Now jumping out is riskier so you don't want to do it if you're under hot pursuit. Basically stand and fight or die jumping.

They aren't talking about the warp-out animation, they're talking about the warp-in animation. It would have no impact on chasing somebody. What it would impact is the amount of time you have to respond to a person entering your sector before they can flee or attack you, however, which is a good point.

So, -1.
