@Savet - no doubt the Raptor needs some fixing. It's been suggested alot in other threads.
Personally, I'd consider the Raptor to be like the top tier defensive fighter for UIT. That said, if you'd flatten the damn thing so it's more like a X1 profile wise and bump up the specs so it doesn't totally suck, that would be fine. Honestly, any tweaks would be better than it is now.
Back on topic, I'm neutral about the gun placement deal. Although I think the vult is fine as is.

but as it stands the spin torque makes it wobble too much and the fat-ass profile
lord_pidey, it's spin torque is fine for its mass. The problem is it's longer than a Centaur.

yep its fuckin' huge and has paper thin armor.
I'm not talking about it's "physical" size I'm talking about it's "length" stat, which affects how the ship turns.
Compare the Tung Taur with the MkII or MkIII, it's 18m, the others are 16m. It looks exactly the same.

yeah and my point is the fact that a ship so large dies very very quickly with that much armor.
really it boils down to the raptor is a wobbly, barely armored, gigantic, heavy with barely any engine thrust, low top speed and a total peice of shit compared to pretty much anything else.
at least its got the turbo thrust but that's still pretty lackluster for chasing since the drain is pretty high and you can only loadout two flares on it if you don't want to go with energy.
FIX IT.

The Raptor is a clusterfuck of meaninglessness made of paper mache.
It needs to be fixed

The only reason it feels slow is the low speed, since it pushes the whole curve down.
Then at least fix the damned Raptor.
+! @Then at least fix the damned Raptor.
That ship looks too cool to be utterly useless, it's also the "flagship" of the marketing material.

Solution:
Make the raptor untargetable like they did with station docks and other station components.
We can say it has on-board stealth modules. This also accounts for its increased size compared to other vessels.
It instantly becomes more viable in combat since shooting it requires manual lead-off.

Actually, station parts are targetable via Lua (and sometimes it happens randomly when you enter the sector, but maybe that's due to Targetless, dunno). I think you can even use the function that targets by screen coordinates to select them, but I'm not certain about that.
Yeah but targeting things that are at a distance using that lua method is actually extremely hard to do, even impossible at a distance.
I like the idea of stealth but a less tacky implementation, please.

There's also stuff you can't target that way. The capship station parts, missiles, etc.
Making it untargetable is a pretty interesting idea, actually. Explain it as unique design precludes radar lock, whatever... it'd at least make it less of a gauss eater. Not sure it'll help with the main Craptor weakness, though: flares.
