I'd actually be satisfied with faster acceleration even without the increased speed. But I guess it is intended to be a heavy, therefore hard-to-accelerate ship.

The ship already has plenty of thrust it just doesn't seem like it because of the top speed limit, which affects the entire acceleration curve, not just the maximum speed.
