How about bus lockers?

LockerNumber = CreateStorage(pin)
OpenLocker (LockerNumber,pin)
DismissStorage (LockerNumber,pin )
(a close command is not really needed as they would close as soon as the player logged or launched)

Lockers would only be availible at some locations(corvus only?)
each locker would cost a monthly fee based on the cus stored
Players may create as many lockers as they want
anything in the locker is lost when it is dismissed
Any player with the correct lockername and pin would be allowed access

Lockers could be designated as playername..lockernumber ie Pakettle1327
Pin numbers should be at least 16 digits
A locker can only be opened by one player at a time (Prevents race conditions)

The lockers idea has been suggested repeatedly over the years. It's a good idea, but I don't see it getting implemented any time soon.

I like player to player storage better. It allows for trading and helping guild mates with out over complicating things too much. Lets get that implemented first, then bug about a more complex group storage thingy.

The locker thing could be really cool if there was a "key" widget you had to give to someone and some 'rat could blow you up and steal it.

A key widget is quite interesting.
Would using it in a locker destroy it? ie single use?

Yeah, like the lockers at a public pool. You pay $$$c and it unlocks, you put your stuff in it, when you return the key it stays stuck in the lock and you have to pay again to use it.

That way it'd be a credit sink for the game, and losing the key widget means losing all of the stuff. Might even be able to use a mechanism like this to transfer ship owners...

Simple, right? :P

A single use data pad would be a good way to implement it and would recycle a semi useless widget.
If a player left before emptying the locker they would lose the contents so each locker would be limited to 200 cus unless they chose to pay the rent again. Getting bumped offline would be a disaster.

I am thinking the locker should be rented automatic if it is not empty when the player leaves.

Also rentals should be monthly so players cant stash stuff in them to avoid other rental fees unless they are limited in size and the fee should be at least ten times as much as station rentals per cu..
