An idea for Conquering stations

Jul 01, 2013 Snake7561 link
Instead of the current system, I believe we should have a something like Deneb where whoever gets the most kills controls the sector and it's turrets. Maybe around 10-15 points, and tridents would count for 5.
Turrets wouldn't count for kills, but they'd be an advantage to the defenders.
What do you guys think?

Alternately - The 8 sectors surrounding the station could be handled like deneb and all 8 would need to be under the attackers control....

Give the station shields and armor and require that it be down to 0% before it can be captured. Shields are regenerated upon capture and armor should go up to 20% or so.

I still say the king of the hill approach would be best - drop the turrets and then hold the dock while a meter decreases. When it hits zero, you win. If the other side removes you from the dock, it starts returning to neutral, and if they occupy the dock it starts tipping in their favor.

Teams would simply be determined via /group membership. (More than eight dudes? Keep them on a separate offensive team, with only the eight /group members attempting to actually hold the dock. And then go yell at the lazy-ass devs to get out of their gorram ivory-station and raise the progenitor-flipping limit, since they clearly aren't going to implement the "better" subgroup system anytime soon.)

OP isn't great... but isn't awful.
Pakettle's idea is outright moronic.
Nahin's idea is less moronic.
Pizza's idea is pretty decent too.

Put the turret armor back where it was, then triple it. Reduce the timer to 3 minutes.

I like Rin's suggestion the best.

Why not just reset the meter each time someone else holds the dock, then kick in the holding the dock until the meter runs out thing? Would eliminate the need for teams. I'm interpreting Rin's suggestion as meaning holding the dock as a simulation of fighting in the station.

I'd prefer something closer to Rin/Pizza's idea, but with the requirement with a special equipament to be present in cargo bay of conquering ship... consider it a "locksmith pick", or boarding drone force, whatever.

And I don't like the idea of being possible to solo a station. At least two players should be required to be present in sector for a station conquer, or even one ship present in each docking/lauch bay, so team size relates to station size also... Teamwork and coordination should be required!

My original idea on this required a turreted ship to be used for station "invasion", and some special equipament to be used, either in cargo bay or turret slot. So, final step requires either a Moth or an Atlas, with 2+ players and a special item present in docking bay for few seconds.

Then it'd be the same thing, but you'd have to buy something before you went in. Most of the stuff you suggested seems like stuff that wouldn't add any actual gameplay. And teamwork and coordination is required, dunno where you've been.

I don't really like the idea of having to hold the dock - avalons. Instead of just the dock, make it so a meter decreases while all hostiles are out of the sector?

It has blue, a serco pony would never have blue, silly smurf

It's more vicious and ugly and red than blue, though.
