Make Chainfire options part of ship configuration
Although there is plenty of help for people wanting to set up chainfire on their ships it's still quite a manual process. If you are someone who uses different ships for different functions this can be quite irksome. If chainfire could be set up as part of ship configuration then the moment you activate the ship those settings would come into effect.
Yeah it would be handy and should be integrated into actual features, but what's missing really is a readily available chainfire profile manager. Kind of like meridians ships loadout manager but for chainfire setups.

Set weapons to separate groups. Press trigger 1. Wait a split second. Press trigger 2. Where applicable, wait another split second and press trigger 3.
Seriously, anybody who needs a plugin or alias to do this for them should just give up and /explode.

Rin's idea will totally work for a chainsaw hornet. Just set two weapons groups with trigger 1 and trigger 2 assigned so that all the ports are covered, and then simply alternate groups manually every 0.13 seconds whilst firing triggers 1 and 2 alternately every 0.65 seconds. Easy. Anyone who can't do that manually while dodging and weaving is a total newb and shouldn't even be using a computer or mobile device.
Hornett? pfft newb! do it with a rocket rag

There's plenty of room for an improved plugin, probably integrated with SLM, but I don't think the game needs it as a built-in feature.

+1 If it's worth making a plugin for, it's worth making it built in.
I'll chime in here and say that integrating such a feature with SLM isn't as straight-forward as it might seem. SLM only manages ship configurations at purchase, whereas a chainfire manager would have to rewrite aliases every time you change ships. So it'd have to keep a list of all ship itemids and associate them with a chainfire profile, which becomes unwieldy.
A better implementation would probably be just to select which profile you want from a list (possibly even filter by class of ship), and a plugin like that could operate independently of SLM.
For what it's worth, I think it would be better off as a plug-in opposed to built-in for the added flexibility, not to mention I'm sure the devs have better things to do with their time. Plus, it would ultimately be nothing more than an alias writer with a fancy UI.

Meridian, if it were part of the UI, the Groups section of setting up a ship, then it would automatically be linked to that specific ship. As that defines what weapons ports are linked to what fire buttons, if the UI could incorporate a delay option for whenever more than one port is linked to the same fire button then it's not a huge change from the UI perspective.
While that doesn't mean what happens under the covers of the UI is necessarily simple putting it in the hands of the devs opens up the possibility of them being able to implement a cleaner, more efficient solution to the one done via binds

Not everyone uses (or wants to use) chainfire, you know. Some people manually control individual guns or just tie them together and fire simultaneously. (common with rockets)
Having the option wouldn't mean that people would have to use it, simply that they could use it easily when switching between ships.
PA members now have access to a plugin that will automatically configure for chainfire :)
I may make it public once I get around to adding some PA branding .

I could use some help testing.... :}
