I suggest adding a new ship to those available for purchase at every station. The ship should be something like:
Small: No more than 2cu cargo hold, possibly no cargo hold.
Fast: 65m/s max speed or faster (220m/s turbo speed or faster)
Economical: Able to Turbo indefinitely on a Heavy (maybe) or Fast Charge Power Cell
Unarmed: No small or large ports
Reasonably priced: A utilitarian price

The purpose of the ship would be for people to buy just to get quickly between systems when trying to move ships around the galaxy (buy a ship in system A fly it to system B, do the return trip in the Personal Transport and repeat).

An enhanced version of the ship could have one turret so that a passenger could be transported. (Perhaps the turret could be made so that it couldn't be equipped with a weapon.)

There already is one, it's called /explode

You can get an EC-104 or Centurion for almost nothing and both are quite capable of accomplishing this task.

Still, it would be nice to have a ship just for the purpose of travel..

I call it the warthog mk2.

That's a warship. I always use it for fighting.
A ship with the engines of the Valkyrie and infiniturbo available only in Itani space is what I'd like, so we could get from Deneb - Jallik easily.

The EC-104 is too slow (and has an annoying whine). The Centurion and Warthog aren't available at all stations.

hog 2, fast charge cell, no weapons. If you know how to fly there isn't anything in VO that's going to stop you.

also, it's a pretty big assumption that your dream ship would be available at all stations as well.

I'm not after my dream ship. Just after a utility ship (that's universally available) that can get me quickly from A to B (where I happen to have parked my dream ship).

Travel time is fine as-is. Itani space could stand to be a little more interconnected, but there is no need for any new ships just for quicker transport.

Been suggested before. Several times, in fact. They were better implementations, with reasonably balanced statistics proposed, yet still the devs didn't put them in.

not everyone uses /explode as an exploit would be nice if there was a 65/220 free ship with no weapons and no cargo and it would give people another badge PODKILLER : )
