Really, remove Auto-Aim, there is no point to play this game with legal aimbot. This "feature" making combat point and hold LMB to win, its killing all competetive aspects, personal aiming skill and actually gamebreaker. There is no surprise so few people play this game, bot grinding for combat levels and combat without skill requirment. Doesn't make any sense.
Try some PvP first and then come back.
You know that you can dodge the shots, right?
Combat takes oodles of skill, even with auto-aim (which is FAR from perfect and really only works on bots). Try going up against a veteran with any amount of skill, with or without using auto-aim.
Then come back and try to still tell us it's "easy-mode" with a straight face.

This thread is incredibly stupid.
Are you one of the idiots that downvotes on Steam Greenlight because "it's an eve clone"?
Cos this is in the same league of stupidity as that.
Step 1. Play the game
Step 2. Provide feedback.

Hi Atreides47,
Welcome to VO. The combat certainly is not "hold LMB to win" as you put it, at least anywhere outside the training sector where bots are unable to do any real damage to you. There are actually quite a few advantages that can be gained by turning AutoAim off. You can read some more thoughts about it here:
http://vo-wiki.com/wiki/Player_VS._Player#Flight_Assist_and_Autoaim
Almost everyone who has spent a reasonable length of time in VO agrees that the combat does take quite a bit of real skill. In over 9 years playing, I've never heard anyone complain in game that the "aimbot" kills competitive aspects.
I hope you will stay long enough to find your assumptions proved wrong.

You can only hit something with autoaim when it has a constant velocity or its velocity changes so little that in the time it takes for your projectile to fly to the target, the target is still under the projectile. The targeting computer only takes the velocity of the target and the velocity of the projectile to project an estimated point of contact; should the velocity of the target change during the flight time of the projectile (aka, if the target isn't just sitting still or floating in exactly the same direction/same speed), it will miss. Decreasing the flight time of the projectile (projectiles with higher velocity, moving closer) will increase accuracy, but, depending on the size of the target (most player ships are very small), you won't get consistent hits until you're within 50m or so.
Short version: autoaim only hits ships that are huge, drifting steadily, or completely still.
I recommend you try some PVP before you say that there's no skill involved.

Lol he thinks autoaim kills the game.
Okay, fight me, Nahin, Rin, or... well anyone in this game with AA on.
Good luck to you sir.
(Did I mention that all of these vets can dodge AA pretty damn well?)

Good luck dodging 250 m/s projectiles with low strafe speed at close, when all I have to do is point over target assisting frame and hold LMB.
Since agro amount is great, looks like I critically hit ego of "mega skill" pilotz :] Yes you are using aimbot and its sucks.
If you so mega pro why you are against aimbot removal ehh ?
Why devs of skill-based games like Star Conflict banning people for aimbot ?
Because you are using it and all skill in this game is non-existent.
Notify me when devs remove this legal hack from game, i've already deinstalled it.

You, Sir, are an idiot, and I am glad you deinstalled, if only for your inflated ego combined with bad reasoning and grammar.
If you are fighting a competent player in a light ship, having A/A on is certain to get you killed. The fastest energy weapon has a velocity of 215 m/s, which means at 400 meters you have almost two seconds to dodge. Sure, at 100 meters you won't be able to dodge, but I'm guessing you also won't be able to dodge a (non A/A) dual sunflare, so you might actually want to keep a bit of distance. Finally, a competent player in an equivalent ship (ie two vultures) will be able to keep distance and just pick you off from 400 meters, easily dodging all your "mega skill" A/A rounds.
As most things in this game (F/A, flares, swarms, rail guns), A/A has its uses but is in no way more than just one tool in the box of a competent pilot. A weapon with good A/A, such as gauss cannon or the venerable gatt turret, is efficient in a slow turning ship, especially at close range. Using A/A on a light ship with standard energy weapons is useful at very close range, but useless outside that range.
If you ever come down in greyspace again, please broadcast your location on 100 and say that you will duel anyone in a vulture and promise to keep A/A on at all times. Lets see how many PKs we can get before you get the message (and probably ragequit).

Some to replace Paladin of Lancelot! Fuck yes! (Sarcasm)
lol kierky you can't dodge AA, but you'll probably lag him to death anyway.
You can dodge autoaim by holding down a strafe key (changing velocity) and switching strafe keys when you max out your acceleration curve. Not hard to do. Rolling and strafing fools autoaim down to 50m. Easier still.
Later troll. You still haven't tried PVP with anyone that's played more than a month.

It's easier to dodge LMB than other energy weapons. Because you always know the shot direction: it's your actual direction.
Of course, that's not valid if you are using a heavy big ship.

A/A also varies based on the weapon you have equipped. Guns with better AutoAim cost more, have higher license requirements, and weigh a tonne (or two). There's definitely a balance to it, and if you get in to advanced PvP, you'll find plenty of situations where you have to turn A/A off in order to land a hit.
Everyone knows Nahin Lor uses a superior aim bot.
My aimbot brings all the ships to the morgue,
and they're like, "It's better than yours."
Damn right, it's better than yours.
I could spare you, but I'd have to charge.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: we need smarter noobs.
Heh. This reminds me of Leeyun/yun from years ago. He was convinced that any sort of space-game-combat was impossible without shields.

"ships need shields"
"You die after taking a few hits. I can't call that fighting, it's no more than suicide."
"A ship without or with depleted shields is half-dead already and requires you to avoid combat by all means."
"The idea of dodging is absurd."
"It is the same as if I told you that I could jump into a pool of water and could dodge the water so that I don't get wet."
"The problem is that there is nothing to learn that would make for a significant improvement."
"Shields are necessary. I don't consider it fun being shot down within a second or two without any chance to do anything against it."
It's clear from what Atreides47 has written here that he has no understanding of VO combat. His combination of arrogance and ignorance is quite amusing.
