Remove L-mines

Apr 19, 2013 TheRedSpy link
When used for their intended purpose they are ineffective, when used in conjunction with mesh abuse they are overpowered.

They also lag clients.

Either this or make the destroyable with splash damage from avalons/flares to its easy to counter mesh abuse.

While I've often laughed at Westicle's exploits....

Dunno, then you'd be removing the only military purpose mines in Vendetta.

The bug is that splash damage from a flare does not destroy a L-Mine.

Fix this and all of your concerns are addressed.

that's not actually the case, the bug is that they can fire through mesh but can't be hit through mesh.

That's definitely a big bug, but I don't care which solution happens, I just think its important to point out they really aren't that useful anyway unless they are used for abuse

+1 to splash susceptibility, -1 to removal.

And of course they can fire "through" stuff. They're an electrical weapon, not a projectile weapon. They just zap whatever is in the way, then it arcs from there to your ship.

IMO, they ought to be buffed so that they chain across closely spaced people as well.

"They just zap whatever is in the way, then it arcs from there to your ship."

Doesn't explain how they can exist inside solid matter, if they had collision with the stations it would be another story

Yeah, they don't bounce off anything. But giving them their own collision mesh is not a great thing to do if we want more persistence, unfortunately.

I'd vote for them to be able to be destroyed with avalons and flares etc.

-1 for removal.

They should not be deployable within a station model or asteroid, nor any solid object, no more than jettisoned cargo should become irretrievable within mesh. Please equip all vo ships with rear-view cameras and IR parallel parking sensors that place such drops where they can be seen, targeted, shot, & or picked up.

They also lag clients.
Fix the client locking up under rapid-fire damage. Don't remove the mines.

I've never really had Lmines lag me. But cargo and mines probably shouldn't be able to be deployed inside of solid objects. I wouldn't say removed, we don't have enough weapon diversity as it is.
