Trading sub-forum

A sub forum to stimulate the player economy. You could make a request for anything.

Hm... What about some kind of auctionhouse...? Like in WoW/EvE etc....
Trading in forums is annoying

+1 to Cromwell
And... already requested before, for sure.

TGFT has an active auction forum, but I'm not sure what the URL is. tgft.org is the main site, you can find the forums from there.

I much prefer VO's method of manually trading items to any automated auction house. There's much more risk involved, and one is required to take precautions should the other party be untrustworthy. :p

Reputation and trust matters when trading between players as the game currently works. I think this is a Good Thing(TM). It also requires players to log in and meet up in space to make it happen.

Selling crap to stations though, should probably be changed around a bit. Here's an old suggestion I posted on that matter: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/25190

Back on topic though:

Sure, why not a sub-forum of the Role Playing board for posting buy/sell ads for players to coordinate and meet up to trade items.

I'm against an auction house, but that wasn't the suggestion. A forum for it would be nice, and ridiculously easy to add for the devs. +1

I want to make clear that I meant auctions/trading like in EVE Online. You buy the goods via computer, but you have to fly to the station where the goods are stored and fetch them there. No magic delivery system like in WoW.
But maybe you should be able to offer/ask for delivery for an additional fee depending on the distance and how dangerous a route is or whatever.
In my opinion it is ridiculous that you fly high tech ships which can do hyperjumps and other tech magick but trading is underdeveloped.
So, I would like to suggest an open economy like in EVE. When player driven then to its full extend.
Ok, I wil post this in a separate thread.

Edit:

Just found an article about trading on a site of some traders guild. Excerpt:

"Now that we are loaded up, we launch into space, but stop immediately upon leaving the station, without jumping to another sector. Now hit the "j" key, rgw one used to jettison cargo. We are not going to actually jettison anything, we just want to examine the list that the jettison display presents to us.

The Jettison Cargo display shows us, not only what items we are carrying, but the best sale price available for each item within the present system (Dau). For example, we could learn that our 4 units of Fine Furniture will sell for a profit of 412 cr per cu at Dau G-11, should we decide to go there. We write down each of the "Best price" values, and we have now created the beginning of a master price database, without even docking at another station."

Honestly, do you really think that this is a convenient and fitting method for space faring races to find out the best prices? You get Missions and News from wherever in the Galaxy but it is not possible to get price lists?
Come on... What is the advantage of such a system?

In theory I suppose the advantage is that it gives the traders something to do, since the game's economic gameplay is so desolate. No I'm not defending it working that way either.

Just as we kick EVE's ass at combat, they kick ours at economics, hands-down.

I think that if we were allowed to sell items in stations, especially conquerable stations I'm sure we'd have a pretty kickass economy. And if we had a subforum where you could request items.

Ok, I just found out that you get the "best price" list when you bought something and then look into your cargo hold. :)
Anyway I would vote for a economy like in EVE.
And for the ones who will say "Then go playing EVE", no I prefer twitch based combat! :)
And after further thinking, maybe a tradforum in addition to a revamped economy model could become handy.

Re: p2p trade system: something like this?
http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/26822#326408

Yeah, you don't have to launch to see the best system prices; I've been chastised because I thought this was the case when I made my trade tutorial vids. All you have to do is go to Inventory -> Cargo.

I'm not a big fan of WoW-type auction houses either; opponents of a p2p trade system have argued that this actually detracts from player interaction to an extent by making it safe, regulated. However, I think there ought to be some type of system that facilitates trade as an alternative to bartering over public channels, if even a heavily taxed one such that direct bartering may be an appealing option in some cases.

A trade sub-forum may not be a bad idea; in fact, there's really no reason we couldn't start a trade thread under RP, pin it for the time being, and un-pin it when it gets too long.

Phaserlight, I suggested the station-local trade for common stuff for that reason (and to try and sink some credits out of the game...). Save the barter for the big/expensive/rare things.
