VO for free with separate single-player mode
What if there was a singleplayer mode that could be played for free? ex When you launch VO instead of the current login button there is a "singleplayer" button and a "multiplayer" button, each leading to their respective game modes. The money lost could be compensated by making VO for all mobile devices 1 USD to download , get a month free, and after that pay a rate of something higher than 1 USD/month. Oh, and there SERIOUSLY should be a donation button, as having a idle account creates recurring payments, which can get annoying.
nothing is free get a job
Grief is free! So is spam!
Peace is fr... oh wait wrong game.
Most MMO's don't make good singleplayer games, mostly because said MMO's are built around there being multiple (in some cases anywhere from dozens to thousands) of people on and playing at the same time: other players are essentially the main content in an MMO. Take that away.......
If you think offline mining or trading (or even botting) is exciting in VO, I can point you to some great existing games that come for free with your operating system.
On windows, click "Start", "All Programs", "Games", "Freecell" (edit: advice valid for Windows XP and earlier. Use later editions at your own risk)
On ubuntu, click the dash or whatever it is called nowadays, type in Aisleriot, click the icon
On mac, just think about hapiness and I'm sure the system will somehow detect that and start up iLonely
Elite was a great single player game for its day, but at least it had NPC pirates and a not completely broken economy
If you can afford a gaming device, but $1 a month is somehow problematic, you're doing something horribly wrong in life, and I am pretty sure that access to the VO universe is not your most pressing concern.
