Back on Capital Turrets, where are the FLAK-like weapons?
Simple stack 2 iceflares to a turret, and make it allways explode at max reach, as ~400m.
Coolest visuals, decent defense against incoming ordnance and small ships, useless against cappies. Balanced. And much less spammer than gatlings, swarms, etc., even considreing the final (simplified) explosion.

Yay FLAK
I'm kind of against putting anti-capitol weapons on a Trident.
I think tridents are made for supporting fighters, not destroying other ships - the fighters/bombers ARE the anti-capitol weapons.
I think Arf made a suggestion of being able to change your load out on a trident, and honestly I'd rather have that then humongous capitol destroying guns.

Well, make them HAC-only guns for when we have player-made HACs, or nerf them...
I agree that the Type-M shouldn't have huge capship-destroying guns, but I think it needs something better than what is available now. For the effort necessary to make one, the Type-M should fill more roles than a support ship. I also think it deserves stronger turret-defense against fighters. Really it's up to the captain how s/he is going to use his or her ship, so a broad array of possible loadouts to facilitate diverse engagements is probably best. You can call a gun "anti-fighter" but gunners will turn it against another cap ship given the opportunity.
I don't think player-Tridents should be uber-powerful against other cap ships, but a single turret on a cap ship should present more firepower than on an Atlas or a Behemoth.

To make a gun better against small ships, make it's shots to be faster. Instead of a big DPS.
I was shooting seeker missles at Savet the other day. They have a nice boom and are easy to hit with, but have negligable damage. They also have a flak-like explosion.
Necrotized. Needs more discussion :P
Three words: Rail Gun Turrets.
+1
