Minimal time in sector before logging

Apr 04, 2013 PaKettle link
As a partial compromise for several issues...

Players logging out must remain in sector at least 5 minutes if other players are present.
Players may only log in on the affected character during this period.
Players logging out in empty sectors may do so immediately

Just to clarify - If a players jumps in and tries to log and a second player jumps in then the 5 minutes would apply but if the player logs before the new arrival then there would be nothing.....
If a sector becomes occupied during the log out then the timer should be extended 10 seconds to give the logger time to abort....

Players logging in stations will also be subject to the five minute period as well.

What would this accomplish except pissing people off? Obvious work around, skip the log off and quit the program.

You can dump the program all you want - you will still be logged on as far as the server is concerned....
Perhaps i was unclear - I am not the accomplished writer you are.

The player client will still log out after the normal 30 second countdown or immediately if in station - you will be able to log back in to the same character at anytime.

Your ship however, will be held in space by the server and remain vulnerable for 5 minutes and you will not be able to log in on an alt until the five minutes has passed.

This wont really affect most people except those trying to log before they die.
It will also severely slow the scanning pattern of running 6 bots from a single account if it runs into a player.

If the trident logging issue remains then simply repeating the current minute if the ship was damaged but not to exceed 15 minutes should prove very effective. (A minute can only be removed if the ship was undamaged during that minute))

Yeah and my answer is the same as it was there, it's a bad idea for a non-existent problem

"That was already suggested:"

Yeah, but this is a variation where it would only apply if there are other people around, and this variation would also apply whether docked or not. So having its own thread can make sense.
