Level 3 Challange
I am still new to the game so not entirly sure of how to create events however comma something has come to my attention that might create an interesting concept.
I am trying to find a way to allow mobiles to compete, a number of the reviews I read on the google play store show people claiming that they would be unable to compete with pc counterparts. I'm still working on disproving that theory though the other thing is that the lite subscription doesnt leave people with much to do within the game.
To my understanding after looking at some wiki information, there are a few decent setups you can use even when restricted at lvl 3. So in terms of encouraging people would it be possible to host regular events for ships/equip all limited to lvl 3 and below?
This way people who do join on lite subs can compete and join in with community to see a multitude of different options. The regular competition would serve to expand new player knowledge on what is effective and give old players a fresh challange by getting back to basics and mentor newer players or bump up their kill stats either way.
The concept is that we povide something to show that they can join in and eventually they might increase to premium subscription? At present I do not know of anything apart from main game that people can do that allows them the oppertunity to interact with the community without being too heavily outgunned.
Anyway any thoughts from those who have placed on events in the past? Im not suggesting there be any crazy prize rewards, it could even be free to allow for regular intervals.

There's occasionally events called "Bus Wars" where everyone loads out a free ship with the free gun and powercell and fights. They're a lot of fun and very accessible for players at any level.
The problem I see with this is that you can't buy any weapons that are even remotely effective for phone users until you're above lvl 3.
When I play on my phone, I typically use:
- Heavier ships with a lot of armor. It makes up for being less capable of dodging.
- Energy weapons with very good AutoAim such as Gauss, Plasma Devestators, or Gatling Turrets.
- Homing missiles like Chaos Swarms or Geminis.
- Area-effect rockets like Jachammers or Sunflares.
You can be very deadly with low level things like XGX Phase Blasters or Plasma HX (How many pilots have died at the paws of Pup?), but not with a handicap on strafing and aiming.

- Gauss weapons need a lowering of energy overhead and weight.
- Lite subs need 6/6/6/3/3 restrictions
For starters, but more generally needs to happen to help android alone - I suspect this will be prioritized soon once tutorials and ipad port is done

Well ill do what I can to try and identify things of potential benefit to phone/tablet users....
Personnaly I think they should just take drauguths pluggin, polish it up and implement into game itself... Provide an honour to him like making his character an npc guide during tutorials or name a new style of capship after him.
But I don't think bus wars would inspire newer players too much.
Light bulb moment came to me whilst writing this post. The current /duel system seems somewhat meh.... How about to encourage it more for lit subscription players there is no liscence cap but implement a leveling limiter effect?
The can go to level 3 then to advance they need to /duel and get set amount to unlock liscence 4. Big weekly events can be played where the winner is awarded duel ratings as prizes.
Certain stipulation to prevent cheating such as:
Can't duel same person more than three times in a day. (Best out of three)
Period of inactivity reduces duel rating which then cuts out liscence levels.
I've played a game that had this system in place before... Everyone PvP levels to set limit, then after that limit they level more to unlock but it had a weekly point requirment to keep or else it would go down.
Eg.
Liscence level 3 = no duels
Liscence level 4 = 1500 duel rating with a weekly deduction of 100 or something.
Liscence level 5 = 2000 with reduc of 500
Second light bulb, instead of duels these points can be gained from denab... Just thinking about different time zones and difficulty in finding opponents.
How about this system for them? This way the only limit is self imposed by their own dedication. Obviously the premimum member perks is that we don't suffer liscence drops...

if you want to get higher licenses, pay for the game. It's simple. Cheapskate.

Genius! GS could pay bills with "dedication"!

Mobile users are not limited to lite subs. Buffing lite subs is not the answer to helping mobile users compete with desktop users.

Armonia what's your in game name? Think I just found my new training doll.
Tarenty I can understand your point, I have been a premium before I even finished my trial period though need only take a look at the reviews. Some are complaining that there is not much they can do and a number say that 8 hour trial is too short to get a feel of the game.
I am just trying to think of ways to encourage more players from the mobile section... Which if you think about is rather improtant since the devs are working on the apple versions. They obvioulsy want more mobile players too, more players period.
Studies are showing that console/pc games are starting to lose out to the mobile industry. To the point where mobile consoles are being developed such as project shield. The problem will be the general mentality of the audiance from that pool, to which are surrounded by f2p games of higher graphical content than vo or used to paying one off fees... If the opinion of morons that post pointless replies like armonia are considered it won't help increase player basis.
All that will happen is that it gets launched on apple and the reviews for android will end up being transfered to apple. Now intially there will be a high influx of new chaps but without something to capture their attention what will entice them to stay?
Think of it in these terms, the more players availible, the more revenue guild make and more updates will be released quicker.
So given that these are the common things I've read:
Trail to short
Price to expensive
Can't compete PvP
Can't do anything capped at lvl 3
Should be f2p
Now I don't agree with f2p, those games wind me up... But with regards to the rest I am trying to prove that phone can compete with pc. How much someone can justify spending is their concern and can't be forced. With regards to lvl 3 well that's why I suggested the level 3 challange so that there is something they can do.
What other thoughts do people have?

Ok, here we go -
Some are complaining that there is not much they can do and a number say that 8 hour trial is too short to get a feel of the game.
The trial starts when you leave the training sector. Get a feel for the game before you leave it.
Studies are showing that console/pc games are starting to lose out to the mobile industry
I do not know this is a fact, please post sources. I do not see ANY other pc mmo going mobile, VO is a pioneer.
...which are surrounded by f2p games of higher graphical content than vo or used to paying one off fees...
I think VO isn't your regular mobile app (?). It has way more content than anything I have encountered.
Think of it in these terms, the more players availible, the more revenue guild make and more updates will be released quicker.
If you understand profit margin, then you know that influx of 1,000 players at 1% profit is pointless. VO is one of the least expensive P2P games on the market, and (I don't know for sure) but if they charged the majority of players $1, they would go out of business.
Trail to short
Price to expensive
Can't compete PvP
Can't do anything capped at lvl 3
Should be f2p
I covered the first two.
PvP - Yes, you can. You just can't run with the big dogs. If you want to run with the big dogs, pay a sub like we do.
Can't do anything capped at lvl 3 - you can trade, mine, bot, fly, dock, sell, buy, equip weapons, talk in chat... What are you talking about can't do anything?
Should be F2P - Because GS can pay their bills with "dedication"!

Lite sub can't compete in pvp? I call BS on that. My typical pvp setup:
CorVult, FC cell, AAP and XgX, all available at 3/3/2/2/-.
Sure, you need to grind some standings to get these, and proms and valks outclass a Corvult, but well, they're military ships, and should outclass what "civilians" can get.
I can't comment on how the phone affects combat, as I use PC, but Lite subs can definatly compete, in terms of light ships at the very least.
Faille.

Xgx blasters would be terrible for android pilots.
Look, the game was not built for android, it was built THEN ported to android and since this has happened it is my understanding that no licenses or weapon stats tweaks have occured.
I haven't really tried to fight competitively on android or anything, but I don't think the premise that the game could be improved for android pilots is such a difficult thing to accept.

Sigh yet another pointless post with no real constructive feedback. Ill try and explain it slowly for you armonia.
These are not my views, these are opinions I read on review colums for this game in Google sumerised into those common categories.
I like the game, I pay a premium sub and I try my best to find ways that phone users can compete in PvP. Since its releasefor android there has only been 100,000+ downloads which is really really low. A lot games are made or broke on their reviews.
I didn't even download this because it had damming reviews, only downloaded it in Feb because the servers for shadowgun deadzone (console graphic quality fps for phone) were down for maintenance and I felt like giving it a try since one of the reviews said it was like galaxy on fire 2. (Game with higher graphics, identical gameplay yet with more content though offline only)
Which brings me onto another reason why I am trying to take on board what reviews are saying and ponder on ways to resolve. Because at present this game has a very low player basis, hardly anyone on during my time zone and having to play later at night to find people to play against.
Now for the news thing I was on about, I got that from an article supplied by tegra zone that doesn't have an option to share a link that I'm aware of. Though after a grand 5 seconds of Google I found this:
http://m.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/apple-tv-could-destroy-console-gaming-xbox-founder-claims-1131199
What the news I read also states are that people are more willing to buy tablets rather than laptops for a number of reasons. ill let you google that one yourself.
But all your suggestions won't keep players and certainly not your charming demenour.
Just to be clear one more time...
I pay premium
I like game
Still working out the bugs with competing even at high licence levels
I try and help other phone users so that it encorages them to stay.
Just wanted to get thoughts on doing events to cater for lite in users, they are still paying members at end of the day.
Lets get back on topic please...

Your condescending manner does not help anyone, and encourages the start of trolling.
What is your goal? What is the point of this post, specifically? Do you want lite sub to have higher license caps, or do you want certain areas of improvement for the Android port?

Shut up tarenty
First of all, your link points to a page theoretically stating how apple tv could destroy the xbox, ps, and wii. I'm thoroughly confused why you posted that.
Second, I'm actually one of the nicer ones. I tried to jump on this before the resident trolls came in and ripped this apart.
Mobile users are not limited to lite subs. Buffing lite subs is not the answer to helping mobile users compete with desktop users.
Just to reiterate.
Your posts are all over the place. I'm with tarenty, what is it you want?

or mobile events? or higher license for lite subs? What is your suggestion?
If your suggestion is more events for newer players (in my opinion mobile or pc really doesn't matter, events should not be limited to anyone), then yes. +1. If that's what this thread is about, let's stay on topic.
Edit: One of the things Rift does is zone events. I can see System events. It would just be a spawning of little hives or something, maybe starting with just bots, then moving to a queen, the a toned down levi. Or maybe a faction invasion with a cappy or something. I'm just thinking out loud. TO BE CLEAR, I know you can do this now on your own, but a system announcement with different difficulties (and rewards) depending on location would bring players together. I know nothing of programming, but I assume this is not an easy implementation and should not be bumped to the priority list.

Trail to short: You can hit 3/3/3 in eight hours, clearly... you're doing it wrong.
Price to expensive: If 10 usd is to expensive... youclearly have more pressing concerns than games. Like being homeless.
Can't compete PvP: Bull, you're either good at twitch PvP or you are not. I personally am not and I am still happy here.
Can't do anything capped at lvl 3: The game actually really opens up at 3/3/3... so, you are clearly an idiot.
Should be f2p: Get a job you fucking hippie.

I feel compelled to point out that I am also "one of the nice ones"... really, I don't even qualify as a troll. I just have a low tolerance for folk that have no idea what they are talking about, ignore all relevant arguments and post rubbish that has been shot down many times over.
Seriously... wheres the Doc when you need an example of "less than kind"?
