No it wouldn't. I don't want to legitimize this thread or anything but removing the rule that flare conc is proportional to damage would be the best start in terms of 'flare balance'

Its a bad idea because they aren't actually that broken, they're just way more useful than all the other small ports - which is why I suggest the change in the conc, to make other choices more viable. But it's not enough in isolation to say they just need a nerf.
Also, I never consider it a coincidence when you post these threads right after you're involved in some furball or something against skyproms where spidey is going bezerk complaining about them.
Or howbout when we use AI bots to kill you AFK mining and you post a thread about how the AI is borked.
Why would I or anyone else stop using the gat flare skyprom when it's the only thing that you can reliably beat a valkryie in that Serco have access to.

Actually fluffy I think some energy efficiency improvements in the case of gauss weapons is quite justified, perhaps some weight improvements too.

Reduce the proximity detonation detector by 5m, and reduce the concussion by 20%. As much as I enjoy it, landing repeated flares while the opponent spins helplessly is broken, let alone dual flares, which are essentially 30-second death when used by a practiced pilot. Dual flares currently have 30m + 30m + distance between the ship's light ports for proximity on the horizontal scale, making it ridiculously easy to hit with at least one, even for new and unskilled pilots.
Right now they're the weapon of choice in duels (meaning 1v1), but in furballs many pilots have to take a moment to consider whether or not the extra mass and ammo limit is worth it in a group setting. I believe this was more the intention of balancing sunflares the way they are now (correct me if I'm wrong), but without having to worry as much about an ammo limit in a 1v1, people throw flare sets on their configurations without a second thought. Making them slightly harder to land may help with that.

You use your spam boat because you can't match the Itani pilots in energy. There is not so much difference between a valk and an SVG (both have their advantages, the valk having more in a 1v1, but not impossibly more) that a small difference in skill could not overcome it. The reason you cannot match the Itani in energy is because you and other Serco rely on the prom.

I match all of the itani pilots in energy skill, including you mr. scatterfire. And I have no troubles dispatching your gat/flare prom as I proved the last time you were laughing about how I apparently 'can't dodge flares'.

We got plenty of Android people here that suck ass in energy. If they even bother to get up to combat 7 (or whatever the reqs are) it's basically the only weapon they can use effienctly.

Sorry what I meant to say is... It's a bad idea because I fucking said so. It's also a bad idea because it's quite clearly yet another in a long line of self serving ideas, Sunnies have already been nerfed to hell and you're an inept troll... Really the concussion is the worst thing about them. They've got conc that's comparable to that of purpose-built "Concussion" weapons, which nobody uses because sunflares already do that in addition to a whopping 1500hp of damage.
It's even worse when you factor in the way the game applies conc from two of them hitting simultaneously on a ship like a Vulture or a Centurion.

No. We've already nerfed them at least twice -- just like the SCP. And just like the SCP, you fuckers keep whining about how sunflares still work like sunflares are supposed to. Learn to use them, learn to dodge them, and/or STFU.
