Information for a price...
Just like commodities, make information available for a price. Stations with certain cargos, weapons, ships, pirate activity, location of group missions. Information is always for sale except in this universe.
With the exception of pirate activity, this is a good idea. Not saying pirate activity shouldn't be purchasable, but right now there are only player pirates, and it's a bad mechanic to build game logic around physical players. But This would solve a lot of the "where do I get pharmeceuticals?" type of questions.

I'd like to know what item does a station is requiring for procurement missions.

I'd like to know where everyone's sense of adventure went? Buy the information from another player.
The problem is that you cannot "buy" from someone on the other side off the universe.
+1 to add more info, but how to implement that? A bot you can ask thru chat, or bar?
For me, best implementation would be what TradeAssist plugin already does, but builtin...
And make that PDA a decent PDA/pad and able to access a safe copy of VO-wiki, as a HTML tab, restricted.

There is a rich player market for information.
Many players among us have made small fortunes from having the right information for the right person at the right time.
What is missing is the breadth of information available to be sold. The variables don't change on most of the in-game stuff so you're limited to stealing guild secrets, diplomatic strategies and battle plans.
Ore locations, current locations of secret derelict freighters with special treasure, access codes instead of keys for certain stations etc.. etc..
These things require the dev team to consider when designing new content, rather than purposely building in 'spy levels' or 'information trust levels' or something into the game.

I think the devs intend this type of activity for the bar but you would have to ask them for a time frame. Not any time Soon .....
I like the concept of purchasing stuff from other players but hate to travel to the same sector to make a goods transactions.
In general I like that idea to selling information without travel.
Or perhaps a datapad of info in which it gets delivered to your station of choice by a courier bot or something.
That would give the pirates reason to pirate more bots too.
