Consider expanding the merchandise store

Feb 24, 2013 TerranAmbassador link
Perhaps Guild may want to consider expanding the amount of real-life merchandise that they sell. Things like posters, art books, a sound track, papercraft or plastic model kits of iconic ships, etc., etc..

I, personally, would like to buy a little Valkyrie or Prometheus to set on top of my computer.

Or some more variety in the usual merch.

What about sellings upgrades? I mean game engine upgrades, as shields for capship, new ship models, faction redux, etc...?

Then some sort of community fund, where we pay to speed up some improvements, or suggestions, before others?

Ok, I'm high now...

But give a decent price tag for a black pirate Ship, with skull and bones, and Lelecter alone funds it ... :)

This explains a lot of your posts.

[edit] Oh, yeah! the OP:
Physical goods require overhead and storage and shipping and stuff. I don't think selling 500 Valkyrie models is gonna be an efficient profit center. (Tho I'd have to buy a Trident Type M model if there was one...). If a few more shirt designs weren't too big a hassle, they could use a few choices.

As long as I'm fantasizing, they should offer some game-related consumables:

Verasi Koffee (get a local roasting company to make a blend)
Sedina Chocolates (just slap a new cover on a See's Candy sampler)
Divinia Spices (might have to wait for more states to legalize it)
Serco Ale (we live in a golden age of microbrews, surely you could commission it...)
Deneb Rum (slap a new label on Captain Morgan)
Synthetic Tequila (too bad you didn't buy Cabo Wabo when Sammy sold it, that crap can't be real)

^That would be the best thing ever.

There's a reason things like mugs, t-shirts, and hoodies are possible for a company like GS. There's businesses who take care of all that for you and print your graphics on them for a fee.

One more reason to sell more VIRTUAL stuff, as special/custom skins and in-game goodies that won't unbalance game... it was proven that there are many options here, check KS topic!

Sure, get VO products on J!nx. That might even get a few gamers to check us out who otherwise wouldn't. I'll donate all my Compass Rose Calendar screenshots for tee shirts (like anyone but me would want one). I just don't want any one of the 4 devs to spend a minute spec-ing model ships until v2.0 is in sight. If a third party can be handed the 3d models and other graphics assets and run with it, fine.

I was merely saying without saying, that the KS numbers (563 backers) doesn't promise much volume for such stuff, even if it would be totally cool for us, to make significant profit per dev hour spent on any part of it (designs, etc). One overstocked item (what?! we made too many pup treats?!!! how can that be?!!!) would be a disaster.
