Anti-Capship Weapons
So, what form would these take on, and how would they be balanced?
I was thinking, like a wire, which latches you on to a capship, being tugged along by a capship.
Allowing you to only move within a certain radius of the latch point.
Disables regeneration on a capship's shield? (Acting like a chainsaw)
Disables the warp drive of a ship?
Disables turrets?
I dunno.

what I'd like to see is some EMP weapon... big, bad, heavy and useless against small ships, can immediatly drop the shields up to a Trident with a single hit, and the next hit direct to hull can disable ships engines, both gravitic and jump drives! (Or only jump engines)
Both effects are temporary, kept while capship is under fire.
EMP Torpedo (Avalon Torpedo for comparison)
Port: Large (L)
Ammo: 1 (4)
Damage 0 hull. / Drop shields / Disable engines+warp (15K)
Velocity 50m/s (35)
Energy 100 (60)
Delay - (2s)
Mass 2000kg (1600)
Splash Rd 20m (245)
Detonation Prox 10m (prox 10m)
Ammo 1 (4)
Lifetime 100s (120s)
Level 8/8/8/-/- (Hive Drop)

Here are a few ideas I had, with some help from others:

The first one isn't really an anti-capship weapon per se, but I could definitely see the other two being used as ship to ship weapons.

How about something that can actually hit a moving capship? Then we can talk about fancy effects.
The only reason Avalons work at all is because NPCs are dumb as a brick and don't move out of the way of incoming fire and weapons can't target them and shoot them down.

@ARF:
Splash Rd 20m
Due its small splash radius, using the proposed EMP Torpedo you can get VERY close to the cappie ... like 50m...
And Tridents have blind spots, even more if trying to evade.
So, two rags properly piloted can destroy a shielded Trident, while this is not a InstaKill..

Capships are already weak. There is no reason why one pilot in a small ship can destroy an npc trident in five minutes, but here we are. Even quicker if one uses avalons. They should be hard to kill.
csgno1, they're easy to kill because they're dumb as a brick. If they evaded incoming bombs or had countermeasures of any type, the Border Skirmish missions would be much harder.

One more reason to have a new weapon, specific against shields and warp drives... no damage to hull... Overall balanced weapon. If used against the present, unshielded trident, only would prevent it from warping away, sacrificing one Large port for that. A single-shot shield/warp weapon vs a megaposi or a Chaos. Balanced and diverse, would even allow new gameplays, as making a cappie a hostage :)

Alloh, they are already weak, so you want even better weapons to use against them? I don't think I am appreciating your vision. I might benefit from a more detailed explanation. Thank you.
abortretryfail, I agree that they should move around a bit to make it harder.
@csgno1:
Simple, if you only have EMP torpedos, then you would never kill a Trident. And for me makes sense to have a weapon made against shields, instead of adapting swarms to do so...
specific against shields and warp drives... no damage to hull
-> so not aimed at present unshielded implementation of User's Tridents.
