Taxes, smugglers, etc.
During AP US History, and discussing revolutionary stuffins, I thought about Vendetta.
What if...
You are a member of a government (like IN it more than n00b, or we have non-aligned n00bs, or something), and for the protection by lawenforcers and such of that govt, you pay a small tax on trade items and/or buying stuff. Granted, this will NOT be imposed on all members of the game, perhaps just governments and/or guilds.
The ability to smuggle goods without tax or such seems to be possible in here as well. Or just getting things cheap/illegal into places and such. I haven't thought this side out as much, but smuggling, highly dangerous trade missions would be cool.

Alternative, instead of smuggling, it's piracy. I think Celebrim came up with this scenario:
n00b A is approached by freight company A to carry 6 mining widgets from 4 to 13. The n00b will receive 5% of the profit. This is about [----] credits, a rather large sum for the first "real" trading run a n00b makes. However, the temptation could be to take the goods to another sector and get 100% profit. However, this would earn you a bad rep with that company.

Sounds exactly like the system in EV: Nova.
I think in the missions, though, SirCamps, that the "noob" might be getting more like 25-40% for intelligence's sake. If it were more like your scenario, the n00b would take weeks to build up a good amount of capital.
We need taxes.
Taxes would be nice. It would be cool if the NPCDEF were paid for with nation taxes. So you could cap a flag by bankrupting a nation. Just keep killing the NPCDEF!
ou! I like that idea!
/me stamps "taxes" with a large stamp of n00b approval.
/me stamps "NPCDEFs paid by taxes" with a larger stamp of n00b approval.

Exactly Verd. Money would be hard to come by if a newb ran the same hauling mission over and over. Perhaps after 5 runs the guy gives the noob a raise or somethin.
