Figure this one would be easy, since player capships are already essentially movable stations. Allow docked players to access the Configure Ship screen while docked to change weapon groups and connect addons from their own cargo hold.
That way you can pick up a weapon or bring one with you to switch out for a repair gun or other useful widgets like scanners on long hauls into hostile territory.
Don't bother with shared inventory on the capship if it means a lot of work. That can always be worked around by dropping cargo outside the ship and re-docking with it.
Thoughts?

+1.
Though since you can technically modify your weapon groups while floating in space (via aliases or plugins), they really ought to just make the weapon groups page available anytime you have an active ship.
But yeah, swapping weapons inside a capship would be cool.

This sounds like you're just trying to give yourself more benefits. It is true that capships aren't worth the effort, but the rewards should match the realism of the game. Capships need more fighting power and places to dock. What would be the point of player created stations if all the benefits were in a capship?
A small capship like the Trident Type M wouldn't make sense if it has station refitting systems in it. I could believe a larger capship meant for serious warfare.

The Trident is a support type capship.
So it would make sense that it supports the fighters' ability to... fight..

This doesn't benefit the Trident captain one bit. It benefits everyone who docks on their ship.
This is me trying to give myself more benefits: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/25998

+1 to change weapons when docked.

Actually, it does benefit the Trident captain by allowing his repairmen to swap in weapons for defense. But I think this is a good thing.
+1 ... But I'd like to see that as a capship specialization, like, not every trident model allow that, only model X, that have advanced docks... a sort of carrier, with very small cargo bay.
Would be much more fun if capships really become a "moving station", where the owner can run a shop, purchase and sell items, equipaments and goods... dreaming is free...

Go dream in your own thread. This one is for things that can hopefully become reality. :P
Capships != stations. If you'd like them to be, make a separate suggestion.
This applies to the OP as well as Alloh. It would be fairly useful, sure, but we don't even know how the tridents can fit four behemoths in them, let alone how the docking bay can be equipped with the mechanicals to refit ships. There is a scale issue here that may need to be addressed for this to be realistic... and if you're OK with compromising realism for something rather minor, so be it.

While I don't think the Trident should have the sort of capabilities that allow it to refit ships, it would be good if we can at least have it to test and try out before other more capable ships show up like the Constellation, Teradon, or Assault Cruiser.
Honestly the weapon groups/triggers part bothers me more than the addons. You'd figure you could change those wherever.
It sorta becomes a big issue when you're 3 wormholes into enemy territory, the only place you can dock is a Trident, and you've got your weapon groups all goofed up.

+1 to editing groups anywhere; until then, this plugin is very handy.

If the Trident carries sufficient equipment to repair a ship, one would think it's also capable of removing and refitting designedly-detachable add ons.
Actually, that argument works better with reloading than repairing, since the repair facilities could be as simple as a standard repair gun aimed at the center of the docking bay. Loading ammo is a more complex process, more likely to involve robot arms capable of manipulating a variety of objects in the vicinity of weapon ports.
Let me get this straight: there's a magical gun that can rebuild the most complex systems from the most damaged condition imaginable... but loading ammo/moving things around has to require something more?
Yeah, I don't think so.

Nanites are good at repairs. Not so good at moving cargo.
Why not? They adhere to the cargo and work like ants.
So, best answer is to have another trident model able to offer re-arming...
to do so, provide a larger docking bay, what results in much smaller storage. Simple and logical.
