Would it be possible, as part of VO 1.9 or 2.0, to expand the forums? If so, I think it might be a good idea to:

1 - Revamp the search
2 - Add support for new tags:

[pre][/pre]
[left][/left]
[center][/center]
[right][/right]

3 - Add avatars and signatures
4 - The ability to turn off number 3 for the people who don't want them

I'd like also to send/recieve/store PM's

The only thing I'm interested is in the PMs, because for obvious reasons I can't use normal /buddy note behavior. Also would be useful if someone doesn't want their location to be constantly announced to a person, but still wants to leave a message.

I really don't care about the VO forums - There is elegance in simplicity sometimes. Not that most other forum packages don't do a great job of keeping it simple on its face but actually packing features. I am particularly fond of phpBB which we use on http://sercodominion.org/forum

What it comes down to is that this forum is integrated into the game so the devs must be the ones who modify it and that means that if they modify it they could be modifying game code instead.

I know which i'd prefer.

+1, particularly for point 2. Re point 1, I'd be happy even if they just added a couple fields for searching by username, time constraints, and section, even if they didn't improve the actual algorithm any.

I figured that people might have a use for regularly formatted text, like plugin makers in Community Projects, while I figured that others might want to pre-type their posts in something like Word, or make a quote from website that doesn't use formatting/the same formatting tags.

Frankly, I'd be happy if they'd just enable the code and list tags, as well as highlight sub-forums with new posts.

Lists don't annoy me, ALLOH'S lists annoy me, because they aren't in any way consistent. You could add a list tag in and have a nice and consistent way for everyone to structure list content, and alloh would STILL manage to come up with a way to ignore it and be completely inconsistent across posts.

TRS, I only used different "markers" when addressing different lists, so we don't have two items "1"... instead we can reference "1" or "A" for the first item in each list...

Back to topic, seems that Forums is a gray area for Devs, despite anyone consider this one to be complete, that's near the bottom on their priority list.
Other than that, improving Forums anyway would be welcome, or at least fix the pending issues, as the search engine (better use google) or open tags like these...

I agree that other things should take priority, forums work.

Also, dm remeber to close your underline and italics with /u and /i, both in brackets []. It bled over to my post.

Well if the system isn't abused that isn't a problem, and who gives a crap if something is bold or italized or whatever? DM still got his point across didn't he, and thats the whole idea of the forums. I'd rather have devs working on REAL problems or new updates!
