in stead of total posts forum posts should show latest post date in that forum so we can see newest posts and not have to hunt for them

I'm getting tired of mentally tracking the post counts of the less used sections of the forum.

I can't see this ever happening. Migrating posts and users to a forum solution that is actually worth a damn is a massive job. Programming features for this existing forum is also a decent job and I highly doubt the devs have any intention to do that either.

This particular feature is like a 15 minute project, most of it spent logging in and finding the right spot in the right file, and testing afterward. One hour tops, if the forum is designed particularly poorly and they insist on doing it the "right" way (rather than ignoring the framework and just writing some raw queries, which is quick but dirty).

A problem with just having the total posts listed is that someone could add a post while someone else deletes a post and the number will be unchanged, so it wouldn't be obvious that there are new posts if you are watching for the number to change.

Should not be too hard to make it ignore deleted posts.
