Get rid of the stupid win32 reg key.
Well, it pisses me off. On MacOSX and Linux, VO will run from whereveer you stick it, no system keys needed. Since you do not expect the game to run in Windows 98 anymore, can you drop the silly registry key somehow?
Since Windows XP is the minimum supported OS now, can you just not look where the vendetta.rlb is and run from there? Is there some secret magic you use on the win32 build that needs that needs a registry key?

This post sounds pissy, but read it with a helium voice or something. I didn't mean to be pissy.

Well, I'd have to ask Ray about the specifics. I'm not a big fan of registry entries either, but I suspect it may be a necessary adjunct of having the un-installer mechanics function properly on Windows.
MacOS has a package manager that functions completely differently (and more sanely, imo), by having the entire app all encapsulated in one place.
Linux has no consistent package manager at all (let's just not argue this point, I know there are 47 different ones.. which is what I'm saying), and VO is basically only uninstallable by means of "rm".
Windows, however, sticks different stuff all over the place.. all the more so now with the post-Vista OSs that have security models preventing the app from writing to anything in Program Files. So, we're going to eventually end up with some stuff in Program Files, and other stuff in some buried user application settings space, much as we do with the WinRT/Win8 build. This also means that proper uninstallation probably requires something to track all those stupid locales.
I don't even know if this is the reason, it's just the first one that pops to mind. We can certainly look into it, but I would temper your hopes with the knowledge that Windows has not been evolving in a direction that is very friendly to your request.

I think Yoda's talking about the registry key in HKLM that the actual game requires to run. Uninstaller stuff normally goes in the registry.
If it wasn't for that one registry key, we could put VO on a USB stick and run it anywhere.
