Re-introduce the escort doubling

Hey, this actually gives me an idea...

Scrutinizing this issue further, a simple solution would be to make all bot deliveries double by default, not by the active sector bug. Then killing your own transport halves its potential, and actually escorting and defending is rewarded.

The prize still needs to be better than a N3 and bragging rights, and IMHO should be available only in limited quantity per player per week.

-1 to doubling

Look, I'm all for rewards for escorting the voys to their destination, but as far as gameplay mechanics go, it shouldn't be as huge as doubling the escort amount delivered.

What does the amount matter as long as both sides have the same potential? Make it x1.5 if x2 bothers you, but I bet re-fitting doubling is easier on the devs. I can also only imagine that increasing bot deliveries is easier than reducing the amount dropped by a destroyed transport. Making bot deliveries larger by default takes the parked player bots out of the equation, penalizes self-sacrificing your transports, rewards seeing the voy get to base, and hurts your opponent even if all you can do is kill their transport and they recover the xith, which also ups the ante on keeping a war voy on your enemy's doorstep. BONUS: we can move our player bots to Ukari A-10 and Edras I-2 to keep the war voys on top of the wormholes. Win-Win for nationalist gameplay.

You just don't want to do it because it might get Espionage to re-sub :)

Doubling, as it currently works, is a bug. I'm personally not opposed to an incentive for escorting a convoy, but the current method of doubling doesn't even necessarily require that. Leaving it as it is could potentially affect other existing processes or new processes down the road. It's better to fix the bug and implement it reward properly, rather than leaving it.

The bug is fixed, isn't it? An active delivery sector no longer doubles the delivery. I'm talking about a default bonus for any deliveries made by the bots, wether or not the sector is active. How that would be accomplished as intentional programming rather than the bug is beyond my pay scale. It could just be a bonus applied to the "convoy deliveries" for each nation, much like the 20% surplus is added to the next week's stats. Hell, you could even handle it the same way: both sides start with a bonus based on their convoy deliveries from the previous week. You might be able to win a week killing your own voys, but that would put you at a disadvantage the next week.

But I still think:

202 Aerna Transport TCS-1138 delivered 10 units to Cateqil Outpost
202 Convoy Delivery bonus 5 units

Would make voy protection more immediate and imperative

Of course it does, if the convoy doesn't get there safely you don't get the bonus. What you're opposing is the incentive for the assault team to attack the transports at all costs. Because the doubling bonus also provided that; a reason to attack every convoy even if you're outnumbered as well as a reason to try and defend it at all costs.

If anything was a bug, it was the way that the bonus only applied if the sector was kept active and not consistently because that gave an advantage to the team that had AFKers instead of actual players.

It is not better that the bug be removed now because it will not be replaced by new content perhaps ever. There are far more ridiculous bugs particularly involving the turret system that have not been fixed though reported long ago.

One that functions as a beneficial mechanic should have been left alone.

ah, for the days when you could slightly damage your transport and it would stop off for repair at Initros O-12 or Jallik E-15 and double it's load and THEN double deliver the doubled load...

You mean they didn't do these things on purpose?
