Add at least 30 active players to Deneb at all times
I'll check in from time to time and gauge the game by it's player base.
My suggestion is to add players:
*Show number of member who logged in the last 7 days, and last 30 days.
Just like any other forum and/or online game
*Show the total number of players currently online just like any other online game
I will gauge this by looking at Deneb stats every week or so.
I'll re-subscribe once the player activity goes above 10 players in Deneb battles at all times.
1-2 player activity in randome battles is just sad after all this time.
Some of those 1-2 don't even have any kills or assist which means they took the mission and sat in the station.
Anyhow good luck with it.

Will never happen. The Active Players page used to show active players until the pirate community threw a loud enough tantrum to have it taken down. It was replaced by the meaningless drivel you see now because the devs were tired of everyone forecasting the End Of VO.
I wish you well as I know that if you stick to the limitation that you have set for re subscribing, that you will never return.
VO is best served with 100 off and treated as a single player game.

To be fair, the traders whined about it as well. Active players list was detrimental... To traders it acted as a warning system (don't log in if your enemies are on), and a as a dinner menu for pirates.
Bye bye.
Ill stop calling you the name you've earned when you stop proving it correct
CrazySpence I'm not sure what your talking about here but you continue to display your ignorance as the user based continues to maintain or perhaps even shrink
I believe the participation level speaks for itself and needs no justification to quantify my suggestions nor the rebut of your opinions which appear mute as the play base does not increase.
The real question is what will interest players to play a MMORPH online game with NO other players to be found ?
I think this speaks volumes.
A few will give their goodbye good riddance. However, it's so few the question becomes who really cares about their riddance.
It's the world who is saying goodbye to you don't you know, as you stand alone in B8 lurking for someone to fight as many have already posted about.
I'm not suggesting these things for a criticism of the game itself or to open this to a game bashing topic but to call this a MMORPH without any player activity is defined by the description alone.
Why does there need justification in order of anyone to see this.
Simply suggesting that you think little of me does not explain away the general description of topics or sweep them under the rug.
You seem to lack the ability to see clearly for whatever topic that is discussed and I this suggest a much deeper problem by your responses.
Anyhow, thats my suggestion as it stands. Like it or not, the details are what they are; and it would appear there is no interest in increasing the player base.
With that in mind I will comply with the lack of interest and disperse as there is nothing to see here.
Happy snoozing in B8
P.S
I'll check back in a year or so to see if anything changes, after 2 years I can't say I have seen much change in player activity levels except for a very short burst of a couple months or so and even that was limited. For now I'll put my money into World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, World of Warships, and Mech Warrior
I would enjoy Vendetta if at least there were a lot more players even with the constant bug reports.

Today's NW had around fifteen or twenty people, and before/after we had a decent sized furball with around a dozen people participating all together. Maybe you should fly around a bit and get to know the place before you condemn it, but rest assured none of us will weep over your departure.
Yet another "Do what I want because I think I'm special" thread. Yay.
I'd suggest a lock about now. There is no value to be gained from this thread.
The nation war was full of people that never play regularly and just got on for the nation war. This week was interesting as far as CtC went, we've been trying to make CtC the main nationalist event instead of Deneb for reasons that are obvious.
That said, if one player were to leave the Serco side it would make a big difference to the outcome, and that's not really great as far as a team effort goes so it's not ideal. Everyone's starting to get a little bored of the status quo.
Anyway, I know way more people that have quit because of this, it's not just Captain86, the solution is to fire up those PCC events and stuff to keep the pace different.

Eh. The real reason there aren't many players is that there just isn't much sense of accomplishment in the game, other than when you finally become good enough to beat that arrogant PVPer who always wiped the floor with you. Lots of people play and enjoy the game, but most don't stick around for very long. Within a year or so the time they spend in game starts to drop and they just pop in now and then for some fights. Because currently there really isn't much point in playing other than simply the joy of shooting things or racking up stats.
No number of new ship models, balance tweaks, cool missions, or F2P techniques will change that, despite what many people seem to think. None of them address the true problem, which is lack of purpose. We need goals to work toward, besides just unlocking/building ships, being the best fighter, or making X amount of money.
What will actually help is when the devs start giving us ways to effect lasting changes in the galaxy. Holding territory, disrupting trade, rising through the ranks of the military, running a successful business.
Deneb and the conq stations were good steps in that direction, before the devs got sidetracked with Android. And it sounds like that's the stuff they want to get back to as they begin moving toward resuming gameplay updates.
So really, there isn't much point in threads like this, since the devs already know, already have a plan, and already intend to deal with it "next". The only real thing to whine about is that "next" never seems to get here. But it will eventually. After all, their current excuse is that they're busy with engine upgrades, which is a hell of a lot more relevant than being busy with porting the game to run on some retarded phone.

"We" being [RED] in this context. If there were Serco in Deneb [ITAN] would fight them there too. The reasons why you guys don't fight in Deneb aren't really obvious to those who haven't played it a lot. This would be a good place to include link to prior threads that illustrate what's wrong with it.

The reasons we don't fight in deneb are primarily because of lag but also because of poor scalability from low to high player numbers which is what this thread is about.
Although it can become a PvP activity, unless you have large teams on both sides, there is no need and it is less efficient to fly anything besides a ragnarok III with swarms and gems (unless you have avalons).
As one of our newer recruits said the other day "[We are] here to fight people, not computers". The deneb smalls would be perfect if they didn't have fighter bots and only started when there was at least 3v3 players on each side and then the gameplay scaled up from there as new people came in.
With lower player numbers, even if you have 1-4 people in the medium and large skirms, it's more of a race to see who can kill the other people's NPC's first, rather than actually fighting in ship-to-ship combat. And then there's the lag..

Deneb is fundamentally flawed. There is simply no getting around it. But it is still a decent way to waste an hour or so if you don't mind flying a swarm rag all the time.
Over the years, I have watched as players have done everything within the opportunities the game provides to create an atmosphere that keeps people playing. There are some dedicated souls who spend time mentoring new players, some who try to generate excitement by leading player driven events, some who use their very personality or online persona to generate a RP feel and excitement to the game. And even players who set themselves up as targets that everyone loves to hate.
And it's impossible to tell without the APL, but it's my impression that there are probably about the same number of players on at any given time as there were before it was taken down. That's just my impression mind you, but that's roughly 30-40 players during peak times all doing pretty much their own thing. Now I could be wrong because I don't wander around as much as I used to. The point is, that the low level of active players has not changed and is not likely to change in the foreseeable future.
Pizzasgood is correct in pointing out that it is the lack of meaningful accomplishments that move the game in a desired direction.
I guess that's the price you pay for easy credits, meaningless death and all of the other perks like cheap ships and weapons (yes they are all still very cheap) built into the game to keep people involved.

Fluffy's guide for how to make VO as boring as humanly possible:
lol As I said, VO is best served with 100 off and as a single player game.

Well, I do mind flying a swarm rag all the time. When I came into Vo I was a UIT that sided with the Itani in the deneb war. I flew valks and centurions but didn't particularly enjoy them as ships. When I first discovered Serco ships I was completely thrilled and I love everything about the Serco Vulture and the Prometheus. I want to fly these ships into battle, not the same ships that my enemy is flying all the time, and I'm pretty sure that Itani nationalists feel the same way. The ragnarok looks like an F-22 Raptor that went to an all-you-can-eat spaceship buffet and performs in roughly the same manner.
lol As I said, VO is best served with 100 off and as a single player game.
I would not pay a single cent of my income for a single player game. The last single player game I played was Apogee's Blake Stone on Windows for Workgroups. I do not play single player games at all and I sure as hell wouldn't fork out repetitively to play a single player game that isn't dynamic and evolving in its gameplay
VO is promoted, discussed and marketed as an MMO, that means it needs to keep up with the market standard for this type of product if it wants any hope of capturing enough regular players to keep the game at a self sustaining level. We can only hope that now the major engine updates are out of the way this will be on the top of the list of priorities.

Point is, you can either accept it as it is and enjoy it as it is or angst over the same complaint that has resonated year after year since I'm sure well before I started playing, which is the lack of active players.
Let's be honest. Real trade has been made boring. Botting gets to be repetitive and boring. Mining has always been boring unless your using it as something to do while cleaning house or studying or some other non VO activity. Piracy is boring. Waiting around for pvp is boring. Being stuck with a narrow selection of pvp partners most of the time is boring. Now don't get me wrong, when you can get a good group of people all trying to kill each other, VO is awesome. So, I'm sorry, I can only take partial credit here. I think the real heros of VO boredom are the development team.
As I pointed out, players have done everything humanly possible to make this game thrive. I watched as nations / guilds have erupted from non existence or nearly dead to prominence time and time again, leading the game into a brief flurry of excitement only to watch as within a month, maybe two if they were lucky to dissolve into obscurity. And then VO settles back down to it's monotonous pace with little real activity happening beyond character development.
Maybe I've just become too negative. I still enjoy the act of flying my ships. I still enjoy combat when I can. But I do not enjoy VO. I play to my liking. I no longer play to interact with other players. These days, I play to kill time. I used to play to achieve a goal for my guilds or my characters.
Regardless, the game is what it is and no amount of whinging about needing more players is going to change that. Folks may as well appreciate the people who do actively participate and share in that participation. Because if that isn't enough, people should either quit now or just treat this like any other single player game.

But we have committed, active players. People aren't sick of VO even with the smaller player base. What they're sick of is gameplay that is clearly broken not being fixed. What they're sick of is lack of proper exclusivity, lag in deneb, no trident shields/weapons/docking and no significant rebalancing of the combat model.
A big part of the problem being that the content would function better if there were more players, indeed it's designed with more players in mind. But it's never going to get there if the existing problems aren't solved.
Anyway, it's a repetitive message that I'm sure dev team has heard. Gameplay needs immediate and urgent attention. We need the existing content to be fixed, not necessarily new content.
